Brett Clark signs 2-year extension with Avs

No details announced, but I'm thrilled by this news. Clark seems to be pretty unrecognized by most Avs fans I talk to (besides lowayne), but I'm of the belief he's a perfect top pairing defenseman in the new NHL. He's a complete package with great one on one defensive skills, and stays out of the box. I was very concerned we might lose him to free agency after this coming year. Truth be told, I'd much rather watch Liles walk than Clark, especially with Cumisky (a virtual Liles clone) in the system.

Bottom line, another stellar move by Francois Giguere.

since the edit diary function isn't working...

...I'll just put it here. The extension is for 2 years and 7 million dollars total. A touch more than I would have anticipated, but still way, way less than the 4 - 5 million he would have gotten on the open market.

As for the signing itself, Clark really showed promise during The Streak last season, and like Tyler Arnason, realized that playing hard every night was a sure way to inspire his teammates to do the same.

I'm pro-Clark, at least until he starts sucking.
