Raycroft to start in Dallas tomorrow. Is this the return of the dreaded goalie carousel of doom? I feel sick already...

Now it’s time to panic.

Go Avs! Let's get some goals!

Indeed. Where’s that one pic that Shane always uses? It would be a great fit here.

I’m glad I checked the other sites before making my own post. I was going to title it…“Here we go again”

Remember

MHH is all about being more positive this season. If Raycroft wins the game, good for the Avs and us. TG also reiterated Boods is the No. 1, so that’s good.

If Raycroft lets in like 7 goals, personally, I’m going to laugh my ass off. Then maybe the blossoming worry over a goalie carousel will stop. I also don’t think it’s a bad idea to give Boods a couple days to work on his issues and get back to business.

Hey, look, if the team wants to bench the starter and play the backup again, so be it. I’m optimistic that I’ll soon have a stress-related heart attack and no longer have to endure this silliness much longer.

Ha

Well, at least you live in America and the ambulance should respond in a timely manner…

If the Avs win though, does Raycroft start on Monday too? And does Granto say Budaj is our no.1 guy still?

I don’t know. I am really hoping Boods is just getting a couple of days off to regroup. We are not really at a point in the season where is totally important to start the hot goaltender and one or two games does not make Raycroft “hot” unless he actually steals the game at least.

If he shuts out Dallas, he can be the starter.

If he shuts out Dallas on 30-40 shots he can be the starter…
if some how the Stars only manage 10-20 shots, I’m not sure that will sway my confidence quite that much.

Take the Rangers...

They’re putting Valiquette in tomorrow after being handed their first loss. But how does Renney handle it? He says “It’s because we want Henrik to beat the Red Wings on Sunday”

Bam! That’s how you show confidence in your goaltender.

Not that Budaj compares to Lundqvist but you get the point…

I think it’s rather odd that Rayzor is starting, but I kinda get the feeling we’re piling up on him without giving him a fair chance.
I know it sucks that Budaj was so mistreated last year, but I don’t want to see the same thing happening to Rayzor this year, regardless of his performance in Boston/Toronto.
So even though I think this is a questionable coaching move, I think TG talks a lot to both goalies and does what’s best for both of them AND for the team. We don’t get the full story as fans.

Either that, or TG is learning about the pleasures of crack-cocaine.

Benefit of the doubt

I’ll give Granato the benefit of the doubt and say this is a possibility.

I think anyone who watched Buds has had the judgment that he is possibly trying too hard right now, and he’s a bit nervous. I felt he had worked through this in the Calgary game with a strong 2nd period, and then his defense left him out to dry for the 2 3rd period goals.

Maybe he’s letting Buds get his confidence back in practice, and letting him relax. Now I definitly think that’s not the best way to go about it, but it would be (about the only) defense-able coaching decision from Granato.

That being said the idea that Raycroft “earned” a second start in a row based on playing the team currently playing the worst hockey in the league and the only time he was challeneged all night he gave up goals. Granted a 5-vs-3 and a penalty shot are extremly tough challenges, and I don’t blame anyone for giving up a goal on those. But it’s not like he made any great saves.

Budajs second and third period against Calgary was better than Raycroft’s Game (through no fault of Raycroft’s).

Another defense of Granato

Just something else i thought of.

Savard was fired after 4 games. Public, and media, opinion is CLEARLY against Budaj right now and if he continues with a goalie that is perceived to be the Anti-christRoy and the Avs lose, he has a chance of being fired. If he goes with Los Goalie-Carousel-de Morte suddenly it becomes about the goalies (and frankly puts the pressure on the goalies, and FG for not getting a better goalie in the summer).

As far as keeping your job goes, it’s the smartest move

Los Goalie-Carousel-de Muerte

Fixed. I don’t know what “morte” is but if you meant death, it’s “muerte”.

I think Morte is french for death where as Muerte is Spanish…

I thought about that after I posted. Obviously, I don’t speak a lick of French (just some Spanish and Italian) and the only word I know is “sortie” because its posted along the side of the road a million times in Canada. Oh wait, I also know “toujours frais” because of Tim Hortons.

I’m glad to see some steadying comments here. I was livid when I read that Raycroft was getting the start this morning but I guess you guys are right, I will watch the game, enjoy it and hope that the same team that played on Thurs shows up in Dallas.
