DALLAS — The Avalanche will switch back to goalie Peter Budaj as the starter for Monday's game with the Los Angeles Kings.
Despite Andrew Raycroft starting, and winning, the last two games for Colorado, Avs coach Tony Granato said today he will start Budaj against the Kings at Staples Center.
Budaj has an 0-3 record, with a 4.38 goals-against average and .824 saves percentage.

Can I use these codes to hack into Bill Gates’ account and steal a couple mil? I’m sure he wouldn’t notice…

Wow
In only 5 lines Dater not only shows his love for Rayzor
Despite Andrew Raycroft starting, and winning, the last two games for Colorado, Avs coach Tony Granato said today he will start Budaj against the Kings at Staples Center.but also manages to show his hatred for Boots by showing his stats on an individual line at the bottom.
The best part of the article though, this comment from someone who actually seemed to be one of the intelligent posters.
Yeah! Raycroft has been really good for us the last two games, we know now that he can be counted on when needed (no mean feat).
Considering the only difference between Boots and Rayzors stats is the wins how can any one say he’s proven he can be counted on while Boots cant. After all it’s true what they say, It’s better to be lucky than good and thats what Raycroft is, incredibly lucky.

I completely agree
Its fine for him to dislike Boots just like i disliked Theo but he doesn’t have to rip into him for every little thing. I’m surprised he hasn’t said it’s Boots fault the stock markets in the shitter.

You're right
But its amazing how important that little number in the win column is. I can’t remember how many times I’ve heard people talk, including the great Patrick Roy, about how the only stat that matters is wins. It doesn’t matter if Raycroft keeps turning in performances that are worse than Budaj’s if he keeps getting wins and Budaj doesn’t. If it’s the rest of the team that makes the difference, but it continues to coincide with a specific goaltender in net, then you have to account for that in deciding who your starter is. In the end, the stats—GAA, SV%, +/-, GF, SOG—won’t matter; If Raycroft sucks, but keeps getting wins, while Budaj is steller, but keeps piling up losses, there won’t really be much of problem deciding who to start.
Mir ist egal.
Completely disagree
Yes Patty Roy said “wins” are the only thing that matters, and in a sense he’s right, but other stats are indicators of how well a goalie is playing (even though I’ll be the first to admit that there isn’t a good stat out there that really shows how well a goalie is playing. So those stats, in a different sense, don’t matter).
Since Wins are so dependent on many factors that are completely out of the goalies control, basing whether a goalie starts on the grounds of “wins” is flawed. Playing the goalie that’s unquestionably playing worse because he’s gotten lucky and the team has lifted him to a few wins over a goalie who has played spectacularly but come up a bit short is an easy way to guarantee long term failure. You may get lucky and have it work over the short term, but in the long term it will even out.
Of course the Avs don’t have this choice right now. Neither goalie is playing particularly well (disclosure: I didn’t watch the Dallas game and only read the game thread, but no one was glowing in their analysis of Raycroft.)

I thought Razor was worse vs. Dallas, granted they are a better team than Philly. But when things got hectic a few times during the game, he looked like he was panicing a little. A lot of flailing.
InYoFace Phadouche! InYoFace
Not pretty
but that taking into consideration Budaj’s three games to Ray’s two.
How about the stats from their two worst games?
