James Mirtle Joins SB Nation!
Big news today, kids! James Mirtle, hockey writer for the Globe And Mail and blogger emeritus, has officially launched his new site at SB Nation. FromTheRink is essentially Mirtle 2.0, and will include all the cool features of every other hockey blog in the SBN network.
If you're unfamiliar with him (shame on you), he's one of the Big Four hockey bloggers, an elite group that includes Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy, Eric McErlain at the Fanhouse, and Paul Kukla of Kukla's Korner.
In addition to his usual great posts, Mirtle will be actively recruiting additional hockey blogs to either relocate to SBN or begin here anew. This is a great development for both the network and the hockey blogosphere in general!
Add his new blog to the list on your SBN profile page and be sure to drop him a comment welcoming him aboard.
Glad to have you with us, James!

Sweet
I take back my comment (uh, somewhere, may have been in a game thread) about new hockey blogs on SB nation coming slowly. If anyone can speed up the process, its Mirtle.

Thanks guys.
And at least 22 new blogs coming. You should see how many offers I’ve had already and the site’s been up for a little more than three hours…
Mirtle!!!!!
I can’t access your new site from work… This is a tragedy

Awesome
I told Tyler that that is what would happen. Everyone wants to be one of Mirtle’s Merry Men.
Pension Plan Puppets: A Toronto Maple Leafs blog and a group therapy session.
With the new visibility of SBN and hockey blogs, I am having visions of more fans participating in game threads and game threads filling so fast one can’t keep up – like Puck Daddy’s live threads. I worry too much.

I'm worried about it.
One of the reasons I cooled my jets at places like Purple Row and Mile High Report was because the game threads became extremely popular. With the spike in popularity came the inevitable increase of people who don’t really know what they’re talking about keep on trying anyway.

MHH can handle more. But I know what your talking about at Milehighreport. There is usually so many commenting that it gets really dragged down and well behind whats actually happening in the game.

I’ve really grown fond of the what, like 15 people who are consistently here? We had a 300 comment game thread the other day that was driven by like, 4 or 5 people. Let’s hope the new people don’t suck =p

Yeah, we definitely have a really great group of regular commentators here. I’m very proud.
Go Avs! Let's get some goals!
It is fun to have a few people who are respectful and have real contributions to thread. We can even disagree without the childish bickering that quickly caused me to be absent from the Avs home site forums and GDT’s. Hope that any new influx continues to be at the level of the current membership. If not that “Ban Hammer” is going to get messy….

exactly. I haven’t seen many boards or game threads at other places where everyone got along so well. We can disagree and have our debates but it never turns into a poop slinging fest.

How can you turn Mario, the personification of my youth, into an evil hammer wielding, underwear wearing, basement living Hockey fan?

See
I thought Toadstool looked like a goalie.. besides he’s obviously the best character in Mario 2 (don’t let anyone tell you Princess was with flying. Toadstool was the man)

You’re youth was personified as a plumber wearing overalls that didn’t actually do ANY plumbing. Thats a weird youth there.

Anyone have an Avs blog yet?

Oh SB Nation Gurus
Maybe I’m missing something, but there doesn’t seem to be a link from other parts of SB Nation to Mirtle’s high level hockey blog? This couldn’t be intentional, could it be? I mean, what’s the point of joining SB Nation without the interlinkage? Or am I missing something?

Oh, I see. It is under “General.” Wouldn’t it make more sense to have it under “Hockey?”
