Brian Willsie was sent to Lake Erie today---and will likely captain the team. That leaves two more cuts necessary to reach 23 players before the season starts. The remaining possible cutees include Per Ledin, Cody McLeod, Cody McCormick, David Jones, Scott Parker and TJ Hensick.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Willsie's reassignment means David Jones has made the team.

Do you keep listing Jones

as a possible cut to make everyone’s veins bulge in anger? Is this some lawyer tactic you are learning?

As far as we know, Jones could still be sent down. I think there’s a lot of fans who will lynch Granato if that happens, but it’s still a possibility.
Personally I think the last two cuts will be Hensiiick and one of the Cody’s (McCormick specifically). I wish it was other wise. I really would like to see Hensiiick center that third line in place of Lumpy Gravy, but realistically, it ain’t gonna happen. And if he isn’t going to take that third center spot, than he is better off playing in Eire every night rather than sitting next to Parker in the press box. I also think McCormick is a better overall player than McLeod, but McLeod might be a little better offensively and that will earn him the spot…maybe?

If you read the comments to Dater’s blog, you’d think that they’d rather Jones have been sent down instead of Willsie. The question is, do most of those fans even realize that it was a choice between one or the other?

Oh, I see you have read the comments, because you posted there, too. Not a single person mentioned David Jones at all. Do they realize he’s been awesome and deserves a shot?

(it’s spelled “Erie”, by the way)

I was about to mention the “Eire” typo. I didn’t know anybody was playing in Ireland…

It’s part of Bettman’s super secret expansion. They simply didn’t want you to know.

Davy Jones

The kids got ALOT of potential, as he gets a little older and bulks up a bit, could be a wicked power forward for us, something we’ve been lacking for a very long time.

Could we be seeing the next Adam Deadmarsh? Is that even possible?

similar

not quite as feisty tho, deader had a bit more of mean streak in him…. jones seems a bit more mild mannered, so far anyway.

...and Ledin and Hensick sent down too

so that’s it. Ledin being cut is a bit of a bummer, but oh well it’s not like anybody really saw him anyways. Hensick is just :(

"...something is happening here but you don't know what it is...do you Mr. ..."

With apologies to Bob Dylan, I sure don’t know what it is. I don’t consider myself some kind of part time hockey scout but my gosh, Arnason’s on ice performance is shockingly mediocre. Wrong place, wrong time in terms of position, just a step behind and out of synch, shoots when should pass, pass when should shoot (rarely), generally soft, lazy circles instead of all-out hustle that a third line center should bring, faceoffs improving but nothing spectacular…another year of this is going to kill me. I admit I have allowed him to almost ruin my hockey watching experience some nights. I need some intervention here, someone tell me I am crazy, that Q and Granato see something I miss, that I should trust their vast depth of hockey knowledge and let this gooo……

You're crazy

Feel any better?

What you miss is the fact that Arny is out there to make everyone else look better. That’s the only logical explanation I can think off besides going into bribery and conspiracies involving the Illuminati and the Mayan calendar.

Maybe?

The Avs plan on beating the living Bertuzzi out of teams early on in the season with thuggery, then will step up the speed and skill later on? Of course, nothing explains the Arnason employment in the NHL phenomenon.
