Scott Parker's contract has been voided by the Colorado Avalanche for insubordination.
"He is no longer a member of our organization," Avalanche vice president Jean Martineau said. Parker was sent to the minors on Oct. 17, but never reported. It will be interesting to see if the NHLPA grieves this incident as Parker has had concussion issues. Stay tuned
Brent Johnson – WAS – G
A goalie controversy is brewing in Washington with backup Brent Johnson outplaying starter Jose Theodore. Johnson owns a 2-1-2 record with a 2.36 goals against average and a .921 save percentage compared to Theodore's 4-3 record with a brutal 3.44 goals against average and a .877 save percentage. Johnson has started the past three games for the Caps, and, at the very least, should be owned as a handcuff to Theodore owners.
Brent Johnson made his third consecutive start as the Capitals defeated the Rangers 3-1 on Saturday night.Johnson is now 2-0-1 after starting in three contests this week for the Capitals. Johnson is making the most out of his opportunity to steal the number one gig away from Jose Theodore. He has only allowed five goals, while maintaining a .953 save percentage in the three starts. The Caps face the Lightning on Monday night, so you might see Johnson start between the pipes once again. The long term forecast belongs to Theodore, as you just can't sit a $6.5 million goalie on the bench, but if you are looking for a temporary fix for a hot goalie, Johnson might just be your answer.
