If two teams play on NHL Network, and no one can watch it.. does it really count?

The real question is: Does the NHL care?
More people have access to Versus than to the NHL Network.

It’s kinda like us wearing American Flags on jackets, lapels, and just about anything. Canada is a very patriotic country. No where else that I have been, does the entire crowd sing their National anthem.
"I can't hear Jeremy because I have my 2 Stanley Cup rings plugging my ears!" -Patrick Roy
I've come to realize
that most Aussies don’t actually know our Anthem. I found this out at an Ireland-Australia Gaelic football match. All the Irish sang their werid anthem, 75% of the Aussies mumbled ours.

Just like the football, except with me and my mate talking about how we didn’t know the words during the anthem, thus ruining any chance of learning them.

Oiler scoring on first PP of game. Nillson left all alone in front beat Budaj with a nice move.
Ryan Smyth in front does what he does and bangs a Hejduk shot under Roloson to finally score on his former team. He has now scored on every team in the league.
Avs can’t win the battle along the boards and another Oiler left alone get his first career goal lifting the puck over Budaj’s outstretched pad.

I was asking Americanario...
because if he thinks Svatos should have had a penalty shot, I was going to explain to him some rules of the game.
"I can't hear Jeremy because I have my 2 Stanley Cup rings plugging my ears!" -Patrick Roy
It wasn’t that much different than the two time the Avs have had penalty shots against them. It’s frustrating to see other team get a call like that and not have it the other way is all.
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.
-Mark Twain-
by Americanario on Nov 15, 2008 10:36 PM MST up reply actions
There were Oilers between Svatos and the net. So it wasn’t a breakaway, and you can’t have a penalty shot if:
"There are four (4) specific conditions that must be met in order for the Referee to award a penalty shot for a player being fouled from behind. They are:
(i) The infraction must have taken place in the neutral zone or attacking zone, (i.e. over the puck carrier’s own blue line);
(ii) The infraction must have been committed from behind;
(iii) The player in possession and control (or, in the judgment of the Referee, clearly would have obtained possession and control of the puck) must have been denied a reasonable chance to score (the fact that he got a shot off does not automatically eliminate this play from the penalty shot consideration criteria. If the foul was from behind and he was denied a "more" reasonable scoring opportunity due to the foul, then the penalty shot should be awarded);
(iv) The player in possession and control (or, in the judgment of the Referee, clearly would have obtained possession and control of the puck) must have had no opposing player between himself and the goalkeeper."
"I can't hear Jeremy because I have my 2 Stanley Cup rings plugging my ears!" -Patrick Roy
Actually watch the replay, Svatos splits the 3 Oilers players and had a step on both Moreau and Souray before he is tripped.
The officials did get the wrong call though, Moreau didn’t trip Svatos, Souray did. Moreau slashed Svatos as he was going between him and Sourey. Moreau’s slash was before Svatos had a step, Souray’s trip was from behind.
In reality there shouldn’t have been a penalty shot (because the first penalty was Moreau’s slash), but at the same time Svatos was more deserving of a penalty shot than Pyatt was last game.

I just got in to catch the end of OT, and that was a great win!!!! WOOOOOOOOO!! Budaj really saved us in that shootout. Wolski, as always, is money, but Svatos’, Hejduk ‘s and Smyth’s shots were pretty weak. Looks like we tied the game with 10 secs left, that is just sick!! Why’d they put Tucker in for the shootout? That was surprising, but it really paid off!!!
A very nice choice for goal girl tonight btw. Natalie Portman is really hot, and you can see how inspirational she was for the Avs too, lol.
