Around SBN: New York Giants Super Bowl XLVI Ring Unveiled

Full Lappy Transcript

“Those hits are unecessary. I thought it was dirty. You don’t need to hit a guy like that, especially when he’s in a vulnerable position. It’s a lack of respect. He’s a young guy trying to prove himself, but there’s other ways to do that.”
“It’s a dirty hit and it should be out of the game. It’s got to come from the players, to police ourselves. It’s got to come from the players. We’ve got to be smarter, and also the coaches. Coaches are out there, they tell those young guys ‘Make sure you hit everybody out there.’ There’s hits and there’s stupid hits. We need to police ourselves as players and take those hits out of the game, before somebody gets killed or paralyzed.”

Taken from Daters latest blog, this is the full interview Lappy did about the Foote hit which didn't all make the paper. He's completely right about everything, It was a lack of respect and he'll be lucky to have a good NHL career if he keeps up these dirty hits. This is one of the main reasons that the NHL needs to say "screw the Americans not watching our game, We'll keep fights because it doesn't make a difference to our ratings"  If Lappy could come out and fight Zeiler without getting an instigator and miscounduct then Zeiler would think twice(assuming he's that smart) next time he wants to drive someone into the boards, right now there's not alot any of the Avs can do to Zeiler if they face him again and i highly doubt he'd drop the gloves with Lappy or either of the Codys.

Good post, although I don’t think I agree Lappy fighting Zeiler would’ve made any difference. Plus Lappy wouldn’t have NOT fought Zeiler, just because of a stupid instigator penalty.

I think you need someone who can put fear into the opposition wherever he is. Someone with big arms, maybe a sheriff…

It might not have made much difference but it would atleast make Zeiler more accountable for his actions although having the sherriff would be perfect because if we lose him to a instigator and one match suspension then it’s not a big deal since he’d be unlikely to play the next game anyway.

I liked Parker, but he takes a roster spot up and doesn’t make a difference in 98% of the games he dress for. No doubt he is a deterrent to pre-meditated douchery, but Zeiler was gonna hit Foote even if the Avs were dressing Marty McSorley and Bob Probert. Right now, I think the Avalanche need all the help they can get scoring goals, playing defense, and chipping the puck out of the zone.

I’m not saying he should play every game on the off chance this might happen, more that he should play the next Kings game so that he can fight Zeiler as payback for the hit.

Maybe, but even if hypothetically it happened and Parker destroys him and breaks his nose, is it really payback for the hit? Foote is still hurt, Zeiler is still a douche. I don’t mean for this to come across as anti-fighting, because I’m totally for fighting, but I think the league is the one who needs to issue the payback via suspensions and big fines when players are hurt as a result of extreme douchery.

Suspensions and huge fines are what the NHL should do but since they don’t like that it should be up to the players to decide when the NHL doesn’t.

Not even worth it. Some people are too trolly to talk to reasonably. Anyone saying a potential injury shouldn’t be handled with disciplinary actions is not worth talking to.

Tucker should’ve been suspended too.
