Tucker Out For "Four Weeks"
There's no fooling around with any of the Avs' usual day-to-day shenanigans this time: Darcy Tucker has been placed on the IR. The Avalanche say he'll be "sidelined approximately four weeks". See you in March, Darcy.
The Avalanche have recalled Kyle Cumiskey from Lake Erie. As Cumiskey is a defensemen (insert Joel Quenneville joke here), this must mean that either Wojtek Wolski or Joe Sakic will be ready to go on Wednesday, as the Avs have just 11 other forwards (insert second Joel Quenneville joke here).

do you mean ready to mill around aimlessly like the rest of the Av skaters on Wednesday?

I don’t think I’ll qualify for Happy Monday. I’ll just keep my keyboard shut. I’m awful cranky lately.

Wait…………………………………………..is this a slap at the Avs training staff???

This must be some vast conspiracy to keep Arnason in the line-up. I DEMAND a “light myself on fire” threat from Dater immediately. It’s the only way to turn this thing around.
IR
The whole “day-to-day shenanigans” comes from the fact that players have to miss either 10 games or 30 days before they can rejoin the active roster if placed on IR. This is why unless it’s obviously a major injury, teams wait to gauge the extent of a player’s injury and list him as “day-to-day” and if it does turn out to be serious, the team places him on the IR, retroactive to the date after the last game that he played.

that’s all true (except that the minimum time on the IR is 7 days).
