Is It Finally Going To Happen?
Could it be?
Could it really be happening? You know what I'm talking about! Wait, you don't? Oh, sorry. I'm talking about...STASTNY V STASTNY.
When Paul Stastny first donned his beloved #62 for the Avs, his brother Yan was playing for the Bruins. The Avalanche were scheduled to play in Boston in March, setting up a Battle Royal of the Stastny brood. Unfortunately, Yan was traded from Boston to St Louis two months before the matchup and the Avs and Blues had already finished all their games against each other for the year.
Last year, Yan was in the minors for the first 3 Avalanche-Blues tilts. He was recalled 3 days before the 4th and final matchup. Unfortunately, Paul was still on the IR at the time (he was about a week away from returning) and, in the end, Yan wound up a healthy scratch.
Yan has been up with the Blues all year, and played in their last game, so barring a catastrophic root canal for the younger or coaches decision for the elder, we may finally see a true battle of the brothers on the ice.
Comments
I saw Yan playing against the Preds but it never clicked that we played the Blues soon, I was more distracted trying to figure out why they had their 3rds on and Nashville was in white when it was playd at Nashville.

My friend and I are going to the game tomorrow night. We were sitting around, chatting about the game and wondering who plays for the Blues. The only name I could come up with was Yan Stastny. In fact, I was thinking “how is it I don’t remember ever seeing Paul and Yan play against each other?” Mystery solved. Thanks DD!

Everyone should name one of their kids Yan. It would make the world a better place. Yan Driscoll-Carigan would kick ass. With a name like that he’d go on to Oxford and then cure cancer.
