Puppy Dogs and Sunshine: Avs Win PGT
via onlyonelife4jesus.files.wordpress.com
So, it is happy hockey day or something. Avs have a pretty convincing win against a Mild team that looked sluggish from the start.
So, since it's happy hockey day, and MHH did not really participate, I'll go for it. I love hockey because I'm an angry person. Hockey allows me the ability to shout, throw my fists, and cheer loudly in idiot's ears in an appropriate setting. 82 games per year allow me to be aggressive and happy all at the same time without hurting any one. Oh, and Peter Forsberg. There is nothing better than watching Forsberg hit, score, and demolish the Wings.

Lol
I know we love the game threads but if this works maybe we can continue to post them.
For bigger type games, anyway.
Red Wings Suck
This was a big game
and I made extra effort to be around tonight, so I’m happy the turnout was awesome.
It was all for you Bubblegum.

Over at PPP
Toronto fans get their threads up to over 1,000. I wouldn’t want to see what a playoff game would look like for them.
Hehe
They haven’t made the playoffs in a while so I bet it would be damn crazy with overflows and all.
Kinda like if we had a Stanley Cup final thread.
Red Wings Suck
You and me both, my friend.
I have a framed poster of him demolishing a Wing and underneath it says “Iceberg” in awesome lettering. I take that poster everywhere I move to.
If the Avs
could combine the team they had tonight with the good penalty killing/defensive team we have seen in the bore-fests, they could be a force.
You mean
we’d be an all around team with talent at all positions and enough grit to fight through the playoffs? This is just too crazy of an idea.
Yeah
Total crazy talk.
I do wonder, though, why all of the sudden the Avs are showing up for a couple of games.
What happened to the utter lack of heart?
Red Wings Suck
Maybe Lappy
behind closed doors has been beating it back into them. He seems to hate losing as much as I do.
I loved the fight I saw in the team, especally on offense. Defense they were a little lost………oh crap, the Avs have returned to the team they were at the beginning of the season!
He could just be done.
He really hasn’t looked like he cherishes shutting down the opposing team’s best forward anymore. He used to have that look in his eyes like he couldn’t wait to get out there and dominate, and now he just looks like he’s lost some of that fire.
Honestly
He’s been a sad story since he left the Avs. Something about being away from Forsberg, Sakic, and Roy, kinda seemed to kill his fire.
If I had to play for CBJ, I think I would lose my fire, too.
Red Wings Suck
Yeah
now that we don’t have commercials to lol at together or a game to fawn over, sometimes it’s hard to find stuff to talk about with people you don’t really know =p
Its a more relaxed pace now. But I’m a leo, I don’t care for chocolate much but I like long walks on the beach hehehe.
I'm a Leo, too.
and I can’t stand chocolate. And long walks on the beach are pretty win, though I definitely prefer mountains and hiking.
Leos and Virgos (me) get along well. Bashing on the Avs, anyway (for the benefit of the team).

That was nice
Switching to the game in time for the Leafs announcers to do a little McNab-style slurping of Finger. His ice-time has been tremendous too this season (for the games he’s been in)
I believe in Peter Budaj
So did we get a verdict on Budaj tonight?
I thought his rebounds were a little shaky, but the PK really let him down overall.
I believe in Peter Budaj
That's how I see it.
The last 90 seconds of both the first and second periods really kept Minnesota in the game. I can’t stress enough how huge it was that we end the periods on a solid tone and not get bogged down in going through the motions to get to the locker room.
He seemed to give up a few rebounds but considering we gave so many stupid penalties to teh #2 tPP team then he can be forgiven for the PP goals a bit, some of them he didn’t really have achance.

I switched over to MNF.
It’s the first time since the NFL came back to Houston that MNF has been here, so i was keeping an eye on the Texans. Now that I’m on Rocky IV, I may go in to work a few minutes late so watch some of this. Dolph rocks.
Texans

Yeah, it is bad.
The other options were also pretty horrible. They wanted to capitalize on the whole space thing even more (Rockets/Astros/Aeros) and go with Astronauts or some crap, but settled on Texans. It was the lesser of all evils.
Also
This topic can’t go on without the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. It’s not pro sports, but STILL.
I’ve never seen any of the Rocky’s, nnota big fan of them. I’ll probably watch Die Hard 2, they’re awesome. Watched the first last night. John McLane’s a badass. He saved an office full of hostages from terrorrists all while being barefoot. Thats committment.

But it makes Rocky a better person…

FWIW, I loved the new Rocky movie too.

How could you not?
That movie was so cool. It featured awesome casting choices, Adrian was dead, and Rocky really looked old. Plus, the fight was cool and Three Six Mafia got to make a name for themselves. It was fun all around!
It was bad,,,but definitely better than watching “Tommy the Machine Gun” in V

Are you saying you don’t love an underdog? Avs for the playoffs is an underdog story at this point and it would just be glorious if we made it.
Red Wings Suck
Yeah
I love an underdog story, and to be fair, Rocky was probably more revolutionary when It first came out, and I didn’t watch it until I was 18 or so the formula that Rocky established had already been worn out, so watching the original didn’t have the impact, but yeah. It was pretty boring.

Funniest trade i had in NHL 08 was Arnason and Brisebois, the originally wanted Boods to the Dead Wings for Lilja and Kuselis. Only time I’ve ever traded with the Dead Wings. In my NHL 09 BAP The panthers traded Skrastins back to the Avs for Salei and then traded Salei to the Flyers for Nittymaki.

He did seem to have a good attitude, apart from the small Boooing argument.

In hindsight
I probably got too worked up over that, considering in sports nowadays if the product isn’t great every single time out, people feel free to boo. It’s sad, but I suppose it’s the trend. Which means I’ll always hate it.
by A.J. Haefele on Dec 1, 2008 10:22 PM MST up reply actions
I thought the booing was odd too but then again, I don’t watch every Wild game. I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt. For now.
In all fairness
The Wild were playing awfully in their own zone. They had a bunch of awful turnovers, and Hejduk’s goal was a direct result of an awful clear. We all know that frustration. I might boo too.

But there’s so many stoppages they have time for large conversations without missing any of the so called “action”

That's definitely true
You’d think with over a thousand comments for a hockey game, no detail or play would get missed.

I dunno...
Johnny Mac has some help in his movies, whereas Rambo is just a certified badass who can magically multiply the number of arrows he has for his explosive crossbow. I think it’d be an epic throwdown, though.

Rambo in First Blood would dominate McClane in the first Die Hard. After that, the series evens out more, but I don’t see the first ones even being a contest.

He's more hardcore than that.
He shreds an entire town’s police force without really using much in the way of weaponry. The scene where he walks into town holding his life’s belongings in his duffel bag just looking for something to eat remains one of my favorite cinematic scenes ever.

Awesome is one word for it, certifiably insane is two words for it, and bat-shit crazy is three words for it (I think, do hyphenated count as one word or two?).

Yes, yes they are
along with ‘Invisible when not wearing a goalie mask’ Which I know for a fact is true. I was at hockey with one of my mates who jacked his arm and couldn’t play for a couple of weeks and had finally come to hockey to watch our other mates triumphant return after a few weeks as well. I was standing next to him talking to one of the instructers who said “Why haven’t you three been here the last few weeks” which i replied “I’ve been here every week” Which was met with a short pause before she said “Oh, yeah. you have, I’ll give you that” Thus proving someone who sticks out like a sore thumb is invisible whennot wearing my mask.
