Puppy Dogs and Sunshine: Avs Win PGT

So, it is happy hockey day or something.  Avs have a pretty convincing win against a Mild team that looked sluggish from the start.

So, since it's happy hockey day, and MHH did not really participate, I'll go for it.  I love hockey because I'm an angry person.  Hockey allows me the ability to shout, throw my fists, and cheer loudly in idiot's ears in  an appropriate setting.  82 games per year allow me to be aggressive and happy all at the same time without hurting any one.  Oh, and Peter Forsberg.  There is nothing better than watching Forsberg hit, score, and demolish the Wings.

MileHighHockey.com is a fan community, allowing members to post their own thoughts and opinions on the Colorado Avalanche and hockey in general. These views and thoughts may not be shared by the editor of MileHighHockey.com.

Lol

I know we love the game threads but if this works maybe we can continue to post them.

For bigger type games, anyway.

This was a big game

and I made extra effort to be around tonight, so I’m happy the turnout was awesome.

I love that episode, “Too late hotplate” is so going to be used by me in general conversations.

Over at PPP

Toronto fans get their threads up to over 1,000. I wouldn’t want to see what a playoff game would look like for them.

If every fan/member posts just once they probably hit 5-600….

Hehe

They haven’t made the playoffs in a while so I bet it would be damn crazy with overflows and all.

Kinda like if we had a Stanley Cup final thread.

They’re compensating for the fact they’ll never have a Playoff thread, and they have a lot to complain about.

You and me both, my friend.

I have a framed poster of him demolishing a Wing and underneath it says “Iceberg” in awesome lettering. I take that poster everywhere I move to.

Sweet

I just acquired a “Fire and Ice” poster featuring the 2000-2001 Avs on a fire truck.

If the Avs

could combine the team they had tonight with the good penalty killing/defensive team we have seen in the bore-fests, they could be a force.

by InYoFace on Dec 1, 2008 9:01 PM MST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You mean

we’d be an all around team with talent at all positions and enough grit to fight through the playoffs? This is just too crazy of an idea.

by SlamDunkTheFunk on Dec 1, 2008 9:03 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah

Total crazy talk.

I do wonder, though, why all of the sudden the Avs are showing up for a couple of games.

What happened to the utter lack of heart?

Red Wings Suck

by texacogirl on Dec 1, 2008 9:06 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Maybe Lappy

behind closed doors has been beating it back into them. He seems to hate losing as much as I do.

by SlamDunkTheFunk on Dec 1, 2008 9:07 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I loved the fight I saw in the team, especally on offense. Defense they were a little lost………oh crap, the Avs have returned to the team they were at the beginning of the season!

by InYoFace on Dec 1, 2008 9:07 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

So, if Lappy is kicking the offense, when Foote comes back he will kick the defense?

Red Wings Suck

by texacogirl on Dec 1, 2008 9:10 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

One can only hope.

Foote has really been a sad story this year, that’s for sure.

by SlamDunkTheFunk on Dec 1, 2008 9:11 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

maybe

The excitement of coming back to the Avs wore off of him.

by InYoFace on Dec 1, 2008 9:12 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He could just be done.

He really hasn’t looked like he cherishes shutting down the opposing team’s best forward anymore. He used to have that look in his eyes like he couldn’t wait to get out there and dominate, and now he just looks like he’s lost some of that fire.

by SlamDunkTheFunk on Dec 1, 2008 9:14 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

oh crap, the Avs have returned to the team they were at the beginning of the season!

Honestly

He’s been a sad story since he left the Avs. Something about being away from Forsberg, Sakic, and Roy, kinda seemed to kill his fire.

If I had to play for CBJ, I think I would lose my fire, too.

So did we get a verdict on Budaj tonight?

I thought his rebounds were a little shaky, but the PK really let him down overall.

I believe in Peter Budaj

by Jibblescribbits on Dec 1, 2008 9:14 PM MST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

That's how I see it.

The last 90 seconds of both the first and second periods really kept Minnesota in the game. I can’t stress enough how huge it was that we end the periods on a solid tone and not get bogged down in going through the motions to get to the locker room.

by SlamDunkTheFunk on Dec 1, 2008 9:17 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He was a little shakey but not a terrible effort. Besides, now he will get back into consistent starts and its only up from here…..for like 5 games.

by InYoFace on Dec 1, 2008 9:17 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

5 goals is not his best showing but then again, the Mild seems to have studied him. One goal, for sure, was put home high after he went down too soon.

by texacogirl on Dec 1, 2008 9:17 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He seemed to give up a few rebounds but considering we gave so many stupid penalties to teh #2 tPP team then he can be forgiven for the PP goals a bit, some of them he didn’t really have achance.

I love an underdog story, and to be fair, Rocky was probably more revolutionary when It first came out, and I didn’t watch it until I was 18 or so the formula that Rocky established had already been worn out, so watching the original didn’t have the impact, but yeah. It was pretty boring.

I probably got too worked up over that, considering in sports nowadays if the product isn’t great every single time out, people feel free to boo. It’s sad, but I suppose it’s the trend. Which means I’ll always hate it.

I thought the booing was odd too but then again, I don’t watch every Wild game. I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt. For now.

In all fairness

The Wild were playing awfully in their own zone. They had a bunch of awful turnovers, and Hejduk’s goal was a direct result of an awful clear. We all know that frustration. I might boo too.

true

Although, I would probably wait until they did that in the 2nd game in a row to be honest.

Well

They have MArtin Skoula playing meaningful minutes. It probably happens pretty often

From what I've read

on the Wild.com boards, they really dislike him.

Something I've been wondering

is if they gave themselves the ‘State of Hockey’ moniker. If so, that’s pretty ridiculous.

Totally true. The Wild looked pretty bad tonight. Even then, our horrible offense got 6 goals and we were certainly not playing lazy. So, I have no idea what to think of the Avs.

Wow.

All that time of not watching, and then you get back to it and the Leafs score. Awesome timing.

AND!!!

Leafs score again… 2-1 Leafs. I tuned in just in time

Man. Its late in Leafs land. Though PPP is still probably getting a million comments.

You know

MHR is like that for Broncos games. They break it down by quarter, and each quarter is like 400 comments. It’s insane.

But there’s so many stoppages they have time for large conversations without missing any of the so called “action”

That's definitely true

You’d think with over a thousand comments for a hockey game, no detail or play would get missed.

by SlamDunkTheFunk on Dec 1, 2008 10:41 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Damn

705 comments and the game isn’t even over. We are defeated.

I maintain

that despite all that, we hold our own because the smaller number of people we have posting. Of course, I haven’t spent anytime over there seeing how many different posters they have throughout a game.

However

The Leafs are the center of the hockey universe ect. ect….

Therefore, they crash SBN.

I just had a guest come in and look at me funny. I totally forgot I was still wearing my new Avs hat.

Nice

I’m all for wearing hockey clothes in public. Not as apreciated over here though
