Philippe Dupuis Recalled
I don't see any official announcement yet, but the Lake Erie Monsters are reporting that Philippe Dupuis has been recalled. [EDIT: Okay, I guess there was an official announcment] With Marek Svatos already ruled out for tonight's game, there's a good chance we'll see #59 in the lineup for the Avalanche. Or, with Adam Foote likely to return to the lineup tonight, Tony Granato could dress 7 defensemen in honor of Joel Quenneville (although this doesn't seem likely). Darcy Tucker is close to returning, but has been ruled out for Friday. No recent updates on Ben Guite, who was skating not that long ago. And I don't think we've heard one word about poor Brian Willsie (who isn't eligible to come of the IR yet anyway). So, it sounds like either Dupuis or seven defensemen and my money is on Dupuis.
Dupuis is a former 4th round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was acquired along with Darcy Campbell for Mark Rycroft. He has 4 goals, 4 assists and 14 penalty minutes for the Monsters this year.
If Philippe does make his NHL debut, it will cap off a terrific day for the Dupuis family. His brother Pascal notched his first NHL hat trick last night. [EDIT: Well, I've been scouring the net and I've found reference that the two are brothers, and I've found references that the two are not related. So, take that statement with a grain of salt].

"official report"
Funny, I was just having my daily dose of Avalanche morning news and saw the official report and came here to read the unofficial report:P
Dupuis Recalled
The Avalanche announced Thursday that the team has recalled forward Philippe Dupuis from the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League. He will be available for Friday night’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks at Pepsi Center (7:00 p.m.)
Dupuis, 23, has recorded eight points (4g/4a) and a +3 plus/minus rating in 20 games with the Monsters this season.
Columbus’ fifth choice (104th overall) in the 2003 Entry Draft, Dupuis was acquired by the Avalanche along with Darcy Campbell in exchange for Mark Rycroft on Jan. 22, 2008.

That’s what I thought! Those stats don’t look like they belong in the NHL at any pace

But they do fit with the Avs style of play. Plus do the Monsters have any forwards left with more points, half their teams in teh Avs or the IR list.

After a season or two of Arnason like play for the Avs…

So does that mean
we’ll be running out 1 first line, 1 third line, and 2 fourth lines tonight?
I know I’m excited.

Brother Pascal
was one of two Pens who scored hat tricks against the Islanders last night. I was sort of watching the game, the second half with the sound muted, and was a bit horrified for the Islanders. It was 8-1 at the second intermission. I really like the Pens, but I thought they could show a little mercy (and they showed none). And the joyous celebrations by the Pens players after each hat trick was surprising, considering the score and how sadly the Islanders were playing. You know, it was the Islanders they were playing, not Philly or Ottawa. Also, I couldn’t believe there were any hats left for Pascal after the mountains of hats for Sykora’s hat trick. But there were.
Maybe Phillippe will be inspired by his brother’s performance last night.

How do you know that they're brothers?
I always wonder that when you see two guys in the NHL with the same last name: Unless it’s noted and often written about, how do you find out that they’re brothers?
Anyways, being in Pittsburgh, I see a lot of Pascal Dupuis. If Phillippe is anything like his brother, he’ll bring a solid two way game that can complement either scoring or checking type players

If they have the same last name they are brothers; a flawless rule.
Just like Claude and Mario.

You know,
I just assume DD knows everything about hockey and so when he wrote that Pascal was his brother, I rolled with it. But I just did a quick 2 minute google search on both of the guys and didn’t find immediate confirm of brotherhood. So maybe conquistador is right. Or, maybe c6hor8 is right? ;-)

I saw that both were from Laval, Quebec and so I looked around. It took some digging, and I couldn’t find anything concrete, but there were a few references out there. So, I went with it.

or, I could be completely wrong
I asked at northfield park. He said they’re not from the same family at all, but that he gets asked that a lot.

Damn Pens and F’n Crosby. All those goals and he can’t score 1? Some one remind me why I have him on my fantasy team……

Your fantasy players don’t tend to well in dominating games,

When I watched that game against the Islanders, it looked like Crosby was assisting on almost every goal. I mean, it was impressive. The announcers even talked about how Crosby was using himself as some sort of “decoy” so that when he had the puck the Islanders would start swarming around him, freeing another Pen to be open to score.
Okay, I just checked and Crosby just had 3 assists. But still, three points are three points and they were pretty moves. Whenever I watch Crosby or Ovechkin in a game, they are always nearly knock-your-socks-off impressive. On the other hand, I have not been wowed by Kane or Toews and I was looking for them to wow me last night against the Avs. (As an Avs fan, I wasn’t hoping for it, but as a hockey fan, I was).
