Leoprone Owns Osgood: One More For The Road
(Bumped to hide the pain of the Philly debacle, per request.)
Because I just can't get enough of this goal:

Once again, that's Jordan Leopold, Avalanche defenseman, scoring the game-winning goal, top shelf, on Red Wings starting goaltender Chris Osgood. On a penalty shot. The first penalty shot of Leopold's 6-year professional hockey career. Top shelf. Game-winner.
Oh my god if this is the only win the Avs get against the Wings this season, it won't matter a bit to me. Suck it Detroit. Suck it a million times.

But hopefully it is the first of many to come…how much sweeter would it be.

avs-ome...
It just feels great to think that people like the fan who threw things on the ice are pissed off…
I hate the dead things
GO AVS

But I know you’re thinking to yourself… I wonder how beautiful that goal would have looked from the stands.. well wonder no more!

My favorite goal of the year
But then I’m horribly biased in that Leo is my favorite player on the Avs. Yes he may be flawed…..but he captained my beloved Gophers to the NCAA title.
geez
the Detroit media is really taking this one hard

Osgood's reaction
I watched the game on the Versus raw feed, meaning instead of commercials, it was streaming what the editor was seeing to create the highlights including the game sound. Watching the post-brake replay of this goal come together was a joy.
First came ref calling the penalty shot, followed by one of the Wings yelling, “What!? WHY!?”
Then came Leopold’s approach from three or four angles until they found the best one.
Finally was the goal cam, where Osgood’s reaction was a nice, resounding F bomb. F%&@, indeed, Osgood.
I didn’t get it into the recap, but I thought it was hilarious how often the Wings got tossed out of the circles last night – their “incredulous” reactions were top-notch

We are enjoying it
and can you really blame us? I know Wings fan are apt to sit back and say “Finally, it’s been two years” and shit like that, but it has to sting a little bit knowing this is our worst team in years and we won on Detroit’s ice.

After the fiasco against Philly
do you think we can bump this picture ahead of the Flyers game recap in order to keep things in perspective?
