Prosecuters Place Blame in Death of Alexei Cherepanov

Back on October 13th the hockey received a dramatic wake up call when 19 year old Russian star Alexei Cherepanov collapsed on the bench of the Omsk club, Avangard, in Russia's Continental Hockey League, or KHL.

It was initially reported that the budding Russian star, Cherepanov, apparently had chronic ischemia -- a medical condition where not enough blood gets to the heart or other organs.  Last month, KHL officials said results of a preliminary investigation showed emergency medical personnel acted properly in treating Cherepanov after his collapse.  However, initial reports were that the emergency medical crews had already departed the venue and were not at the arena at the time Cherepanov collapsed.
