It's Official, Folks: Arnason's moving up
Arnie's the first line center. Let the drinking commence. And by drinking, I mean of the "just give me the damn bottle and let me pound it straight" kind of consumption. I had planned on placing a fun wager of the "loser does something embarrassing" sort with a Wings fan I know...something I am loathe to do now. I may be crazy, but I'm certainly not masochistic. I'm just sayin.
On the bright side, as I need to have 75 words and want to find something to look forward to on Saturday, both Svatos and Salei will be back in the line up. That's something to celebrate, yes?

But not Hensiiick
Presumably.
Look at it this way. It could be worse – we could…
Actually there’s no way this could be worse.

And Budaj is starting in net.
If the Avs win nothing will be said. If he loses….
I hope the team shows up, or he’s going to get ripped for a week by Dater’s Haters.

I hope they do, too. I’m not thinking a win here; I’ll be happy with a fight. But if they hang Boods out to dry like usual, I’ll be very disappointed.

I agree, but like last with last win, I won’t be watching (in case of jinxing).

Hopefully, the addition of an energized Svats will give the O some spark. We need all the warm bodies up front that we can get, and we know the Svats Machine can finish and help carry the offensive load.
I look for The Duke, Baron von Wolski, Smyth, and the resurgant Lappy to carry the O, but a nice hot streak from Svatos or one of the kids (Jones/Hensick/Stewart) would be nice too. I have to say, I do like the 2nd line of Wolski/Stewart/Jones with Stewie back at center. That could be a “Line of the Future”, IMO.

Can anyone theorize on what coach G is thinking?
The second line according to Sadowski is: Wolski-Hensick-Jones.
3rd line: Stewart-Lappy-Svatos?

The Boods/Svats Plan
Driving in the rain down from Brooklyn to my parents’ house in DC the other day, I was imagining a scenario where Svatos and Budaj are the last two on the ice after Friday practice. They make some sort of Slovakian pact to carry the team “duo-handedly” (made-up word) while everyone is out injured:
Budaj: Okay, Svats Machine. Here’s the plan. I keep the pucks out of my net. You put the pucks in the other net.
Svats: There’s no other option. Let’s do it, bro.
[ ;-) Happy Holidays, everyone!]

I may be grasping straws
But the Wings did play last night, and lost, in Nashville. I don’t mind Boods in net…Raycroft looked pretty shaky against the Dogs…

Yeah, well
Just trying to find something to be hopeful about :) I’ll be there tonight, trying my best to help the Avs defy the odds…

At least there is the possibility that they’ll be tired, and/or not have their legs until the third period when we already have a 2 or 3 goal lead.
Right?

Maybe Arnason will use this opportunity to step up his game And by maybe, I mean the Earth will be struck by a Texas sized asteroid in the next 5 minutes, maybe.

Post on a Dater blog
Smyth-Arnason-Hejduk = the donut line ! there is a hole in the middle !
i don’t understand why Granato doesn’t try Wolski beetween Smyth and Hejduk ?
Raycroft played the game of his life against Detroit and he is coming back with Budaj ?
i need a double scotch on the rocks !

I too, am perplexed that Wolski is not being moved to center. Is it that difficult of an adjustment? Not enough practice time to make the shift? What?
From RPM to the Donut line.

I wouldn’t think the transition would be to bad…since I swear he played C in Brampton.

Its even wierder when you think they’ve contemplated putting the baron at center for a while.

I know he played center in the minors/junior (not sure which) but he hasn’t played C in the NHL. That’s what I wonder about. The transition to NHL center vs. winger.
