[David here, doing some last-minute pinch-hitting for Joe.]
Remember at the start of the season, when we thought the Avs were going to score 300+ goals this year, and the lowly Canucks would be lucky to hit 200? Yeah, funny how things work out, right? The Canucks, with 11 goals from reclamation project Kyle Wellwood, have 82 goals in 27 games - 15 more than our beloved Avs.
Vancouver so far is the surprise of the division, currently sitting in first. I don't have to tell you where the Avs are sitting.
In happier news, the Canucks are without Roberto Luongo. Vancouver is expected to start some guy named Cory Schneider (not to be confused with this guy or even this guy). I'm not going to lie, I've never heard of him - I guess he got his career win on Friday against the Wild. Sounds like we're getting set up for failure...

Wellwood
Wasn’t he that fat guy everyone was making fun of at the start of the season. Got bought out by the Leafs or something.

turns out, we picked the wrong Toronto reject

Sounds like we’re getting set up for failure…
It certainly appears that way…Lets just hope we don’t add to it by giving this guy his first career shutout.
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.

Chances are we will. The Avs have extended their off-ice charity to now include on-ice acts as well. They enjoy giving people/teams/jerseys their first goal/points/wins.

I’m endorsing our charity work, thats kinda positive. Although my mates did take a vote and awarded me ‘Most Negative Person Ever’ award so that could be why my positivity is generally negative.

Oh yeah
Let’s make with the happiness. You notice on our day of positivity and happiness we won?
I think we should try that again.
I think you picked the wrong team then, don’t worry you gte used to it after a while. Soon it becomes almost second nature.

I was trying to say
You can be a fan of a team that loses for decades (in the Cubs instance) and love them anyway. It’s called being a diehard fan who loves a team anyway. I feel that way about the Avs too.

Don't get me wrong
I despise losing, and standing in line. The only thing that helps keep me relativly sane when i lose is smashing my goal stick on something.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
It’s about a little courtesy and respect. When I am a fan of the Away team, I do not get all obnoxious about my team, even if they do beat the Rangers at Madison Square Garden. :-)
I can’t stand how the Wings fans wear all their ugly gear at Pepsi Center and do as they do, as if they FU**ing own the place. That kind of behavior sometimes merits a drink thrown in their face. Just sayin.
I'm a fan of the away team
a lot of times, so I’ve learned how to act and not act. At the same time, I don’t at all take kindly to people treating me like shit, especially over something ultimately trivial like hockey. Of course, I should do a better job of not letting people get to me over something ultimately trivial like hockey.
Wearing the Away team’s jersey is no big deal, you want your guys to see that they’ve got support — it’s just the way the Wings fans seriously act like the Pepsi Center is their barn. It’s disgusting.
I went to a Caps game at Capital Center a couple of years ago ’cause I really wanted to see Ovechkin play. I scored like a 2nd row seat except it was all Leafs fans around me. They were all wearing Toronto jerseys and very loudly cheering the Leafs but they were NOT being assholes like Wings fans.
The Wing sjust want to have the best arena in the NHL, and to achieve that they have to destroy every other arena.
I don’t mind away fans at sport, as long as they’re not complete assclowns about it. I’ve had good conversations with opposing fans at some event because they know how to act. I’ve also been close to a few fights with opposing fans because they act like dicks.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
Yeah
I cheer my team, but I don’t do anything to other fans or their team. I’m there to see my team play, afterall.
I like to talk shit, just not to the fans or be a dick. But when I went to the buffalo game, I did mention rather loudly that any team that didn’t keep briere and drury didn’t deserve to win. At all. fortunately no one wanted to mention that my team din’t keep drury either, and I didn’t get into any fights.
If i’m around people who I know won’t get super pissed and that have a sense of humour i’ll probably say sarcastic things, but I wouldn’t go to a game and start insulting the team after 5 minutes.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
Me neither. I like to wait until I know its going to be a close game. I went to a detroit game and some avs fan tried to talk to a wings fan by saying something along the lines of “when are the red wings going to show up”. the fool didn’t realize it was 3-0 wings until their fan shouted “3 goals ago jackass”… even I had to laugh.
Point being
I’ll never get used to losing. I might be trying to run in quicksand, but I’d rather that than being like “eh, we lost again. No big deal.”
I attempt to forget about loses but it doesn’t always help, doesn’t help that every single goal i let in is followed by me thinking I should have saved it, regardless of whether or not any other goalie would have stopped it.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
I had to try real hard not to smash my stick the other night. I didn’t but only cuz it cost $200 and it need to last a while.
Mines $150 but that hasn’t stopped me smashing it on the ice/posts or anything else i can hit. Neither has the fact they’res only about 4 other goal sticks to choose from in WA.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
Well I can’t afford that anymore. I’m the next thing to laid off right now. I should have broke my $30 back up tho, I’d a felt better.
Mine’s $150Aus, so it’s about $100US. I’m in the same position as you though, don’t have the cash to buy new a new stick. Still doesn’t stop me.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
I did throw it when I got back to bench, but, no breaky on the ice. Had to really control myself tho as we just got scored on shorthanded. Like the avs almost just did….
Avs screwed again
Goal went in of Symth but was “Directed in” by his glove. the refs hate us. that’s the second goal we’ve been gypped on in 2 games.

Great PP
you know it’s good when the shorthanded team has more shots than the team with the man advantage.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
For real
That was a powerplay I haven’t even seen in the AHL yet this year. It was undeniably atrocious.
Is It Me?
Or did the avs PP get worse in the last few games? Is that possible? I can definately say no one fears our PP at all.
We have no idea what we're doing
it’s the most tentative powerplay I’ve ever seen. We can’t control the puck in the zone, and when we do, we know HOW to setup position wise, but there doesn’t seem to be any concept of what to do.
Evening guys…seems I haven’t missed much, Avs losing again.
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.
-Mark Twain-
Sappenin
Yeah, not a lot happening. Team has had a couple decent chances, but Schneider is a very good young goalie. He’s showing off his talents so far.
Is he that good, or are we making him look good?
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.
-Mark Twain-
You know the answer
Turco has been horrible all year but looked like Mr. Vezina against the Avs in the last game.
Honestly
He is one of the best young goalie prospects in the game next to guys like Jimmy Howard and Ondrej Pavelec.
Hejduk needs to quit looking for the pass and just shoot the damn puck. He’s in there making plays – just shoot!!! Gah
Red Wings Suck
Thats crazy talk, none of the Avs shoot. Its not part of their game plan.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
What, you can shoot the puck?
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.

Did Anybody See
the pic the altitude guys had a few games ago with brett clark photoshopped in goalie gear? I think the avs wouldn’t be able to score on him. Oh wait, yes they could, he’s on our team. Wait, I guess it isn’t that bad yet, we haven’t scored on ourselves…
He also made a big save a few games ago….
Mr Clarkle and Hyde?
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.
-Mark Twain-
Except he had to make that save because of his own bone-head play. I have an official position here.
Clark sucks.
Red Wings Suck
Don’t worry we will. Was Clark on the ice for the first goal.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
Ok
Hehe. It might make me feel better. Would you mind putting on a Wings jersey before I commence?
Red Wings Suck
Yes
Actually I would mind. I would never be able to take enough showers. I actually shuddered at the mere thought.
Hannans managed to deflect a few in the net as well.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
I still wish
Hannan would be traded. I haven’t seem him live up to his past reputation or his current salary. Not even close.
Oh not at all
He’s not nearly as physical as his reputation allowed me to believe he was, and he doesn’t shut anybody down. I just don’t see how he is at all worth that kind of money at this point.
Yeah
Only D men worth tha money either have a wicked shot from the point or a brutal hit. hannan does neither.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
The few games i’ve seen I don’t think i’ve ever noticed him on the ice.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
I always see him behind the play,
being slower than the other team’s player, and not hitting or missing the hit.
But when it’s deflections because he’s standing in front of Boods doing nothing it’s crap.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
You’re like my goalie- always whining when we aren’t covering the guy in front, then bitching when we accidentally deflect one in. sheesh. //kidding
What
you expect me to take responsibility for the goals, thats not how goalies roll. It’s always someone elses fault.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
That was entertaining, maybe I should go watch the Cowboys.
Crap, they suck too.
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.
-Mark Twain-
yea, giving up 17 pts in the final 7 minutes….and the game wining touchdown on an interception….
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.
-Mark Twain-
THey had that game
and as Broncos fan, I was really pulling for a Steelers loss. It was “damnit” all around.
Hold up
someone just said the Iowa Chops is a great name for anything. How are people so stupid.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
Anaheim's new affiliate
big pig for a mascot. Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid. I talked to one of the players earlier this year when they were in Houston, and HE said most of the team hates it, too. That made me laugh.
I’m not surprised, It’s an ugly logo, on an ugly jersey, with ugly colours. It ruins the entire AHL logo set, most AHL teams have pretty sweet logos IMO but the CHops bring everything down.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
Yeah i like that logo as well, first Aeros game i ever saw was back in the IHL. It was Aeros vs the All stars after the Aeros won the cup. I always liked that all star game concept, I’d like to see the NHL do that. My favourite team was the Orlando Solar Bears, the polor bear wearing sunnies was awesome. Probably one of my favourite sporting logos ever.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
The jerseys
got a lot uglier when they became a Minnesota affiliate and adopted their Christmas tree colors. The logo is still the shit, though. There is a minor league basketball team named the “SkyForce”, which I think is awesome, but their logo is a super letdown.
I hate when minor league teams adopt the colours and logo of their affiliate. They should be allowed to choose their own logo/colours/name.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
Luckily
They kept the Bomber logo, but the colors have really ruined everything else. It’s too bad. I wish they wouldn’t have adopted the rotating captaincy crap, as well.
Ha ha ha -- I wonder
how the Ducks players really felt about being the “Mighty Ducks” back in the day…
The second period is starting…does anyone care?
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.
-Mark Twain-
Bullshit…how does Liles get a penalty there?
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.
-Mark Twain-
Thats crazy talk
they would have had to give the Canucks a penaly as well if they let it go.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
For real
There was zero reason for a penalty there. He defends Budaj, and gets roughing? What the hell is that? This is still hockey, right?
Boods comes up big
again, The Avs need to start helping him. He can’t keep saving their asses forever. And he’ll end up burnt out when they need him at his best.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"

"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
Wolski and Hensick
showing some chemistry and creating an offensive chance. Too bad Wojtek can’t bury it.
Is Stewart playing
or has he been scratched for someone. haven’t heard much about him.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
He made a move earlier
and he showed surprising speed and came up with a good scoring chance. Other than that, invisible.
Avs done teach that crap, you know that.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
Wow
The Avs seem interested to play this game now after Liles scrum, PK and the goal. This I like.
Red Wings Suck
A penalty on Lappy?
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.
-Mark Twain-
Ok that is a legit “boarding” penalty. Damnit there goes the momentum.
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.
-Mark Twain-
Oh yeah it is.
I was bummed to see it was Lappy. That was a McLeod kind of penalty (last year’s version, anyway).
Hannan, try hitting that guy before he gets a chance to whack at the puck.
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.

Looks can be decieving, especially when it comes to anything Avs related.

Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.

Yeah
Altitude just said he was close to it, As long as it’s a goal who cares who gets it, none of the Avs will challenge for the Art Ross or Rocket Trophys.

Smyth
gets the goal, and honestly, it’s about freaking time. He takes that slap shot from the left wing allllllllllll the tiiiiiiimmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeee. FINALLY he scores.
OMG
the Canucks announcers just said Arny once had a hattrick against the Canucks. They used the words “once upon a time” — it was when Arny was with the Hawks. Ha ha ha.
There’s that dumb McLeod penalty…..
Leads to a pile up of players.

"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"

McLeod boarded a Canuck player, though it was a quick play and happened real fast. The Canucks took exception and jump McLeod, bodies got together….
Now and then we had the hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be PIRATES.
-Mark Twain-
I did
but I was mentioning that it was mostly last year he pulled that crap. He has been much, much more responsible this year, but that was definitely a return to form for him.
Too bad
that penalty overshadowed Stewart making a nice break for the net and showing his speed again, though the offensive chance was ho-hum. Bunch of 2 minute penalties all around, but we don’t get to see 3 v 3. Bummer.
Avs definitely working this period

Winning every game is unrealistic
but asking the team for THIS kind of effort night in and night out isn’t unrealistic. If this team showed up every night, we would be a much more formidable foe.
Thats all anyones ever asked for though. We don’t care if they win or lse every game to an extent, just as long as they put in 100% effort every game the results will come.

HEY GIVE BUDAJ SOME HELP!

Yeah
Without Boods this Avs team would be even worse, and i didn’t think that was possible.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
Once again I’m reminded how everyone thought he would be the problem, not the rest of team. Cliche, yes. True? Also yes.
yeah, I always had faith Boods would show he’s starting caliber. Put him on a team like San Jose or Detroit and he’d be one of the top goaltenders. No-one gives him the respect he deserves for some reason.
"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
That reason
would be Hannan, Leopold, Liles, Clark, Salei, and sometimes Foote. The new guy whose name I still can’t spell correctly hasn’t been too bad.
And WHAT THE HELL
I’m never complimenting another Avs defender. I mention a few days ago how well Liles has played this season, and he goes out and plays a couple horrible games in a row. That was no exception. Budaj left out to dry by his hapless (or helpless?) defense.
Delayed on the Avs ….WTF?

"Two roads divurged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"

This is ridiculous
Why is Granato putting Leopold on the ice for a PK? His biggest weakness is clearing the puck out from the front of the net, and what happens on that goal? Leopold is standing there chillin, presumably thinking about the good ole days growing up in Minnesota playing pond hockey where everyone thought he was so awesome. Damnit.
Avs fail to play the last 3:00 of the period and they are down a goal. Could have been more with the Nucks controlling the zone those final 3:00.

when they played each other and Iginla spear-headed their meltdown at the end that sparked the huge douchefest that has engulfed Calgary. That was fun.
Are you talking about
when the Flames played the Avs and the Avs scored like 9 goals and everyone on ice fought, including the goalies, Abby & Phil Sauve? ’Cause that was a fun game.
This is true. But as long as there is a breath left in Darren McCarty’s body, I hate the Wings the most.

I've admitted this before
and still find it amusing, but my favorite three hockey players when I first got into hockey were Fedorov, Pavel Bure, and Kamensky. It didn’t take me too long to fall for Roy (who remains my favorite hockey player ever), Deadmarsh, and Forsberg (I love love love Ricci, too).
That's
the second time I’ve seen you call him that. Ricci was my first “glue guy” player that I really appreciated. Jon Klemm ended up being another one, and Lappy is the guy I’m all about now.
Aw, come on! Ricci was awesome. That goal he scored in the finals in 96 when he was jumping up and down in Vanbeesbroaoakockladkl’s face was awesome.

Mines always been Roy, followed by pretty much mot other NHL goalies. I used to be obsessed with Cory Schwab after I saw him in an IHL game. Never really liked many players. Current favourites are Boods, Miller and Turco. Followed by Sakic and Stastny

The whistle came WAY too quickly on that play. Schneider never fully controlled the puck, and they whistled it dead. Hate you ref.
I’ve seen them do that a few times. One of the refs in my game whistled the play dead after i made the save and i just looked at the puck that was a couple of inches away from my pad in the middle of the crease. I was just like"Whatever, I’ll take the face off.

Pretty much.
The Avs have been a team without an edge for a long time. I’m tired of it. I miss the days of Rob Blake laying the wood on a nightly basis. Maybe when Foote gets back he can rediscover that aspect of his game.
I wish, I’m so frustrated this year watching Foote play like he’d rather be playing boccee. I dunno what his deal is, but if he can’t bring his edge with him when he comes back, I’d almost rather he didn’t come back. It’s too aggravating otherwise.

yeah
I dunno how well they would do, but they haven’t been BAD. They just…haven’t been as good as I thought they would be once Vancouver found a way to keep them together. 800 combined points is all right, I guess. Even when the Canucks had Bertuzzi in his prime and Naslund in his, they were an underwhelming duo.
They don’t seem to have the impact Ovechkin and Crosby have thats for sure, but considering they’re the only offense the Canucks have had for a while it’s tough to really dominate.

Do the Avs realize they're losing?
Their intensity level is not matching Vancouver’s even though they’re behind, and there is no jump to anything they do. Its like they’re going through the motions to get out of there. I realize it’s the end of the period and it’s their job to collapse, but COME ON.
Avs never try when they’re a goal down. the most they do is wait for Boods to get pulled and make weak efforts with the extra attacker, before generally giving up the EN goal. They have no desire to win.

He’s got alot of nerve that for sure, have you seen the way he expects the forwards to score. Its downright rude, I don’t think he’s really a christian either. He’s probably into satanism and beats up little puppies on the way to games.

Exactly. If you have to go into such depth to critique a player that you don’t like that casual fans/readers don’t even know what you’re talking about, your bias sucks.

Dont forget the way he looks around the stadium when he gets on the ice or the way he roughs up his crease. His glove also ina non-Dater approved position.

I enjoy most of Dater’s stuff, but leaving Boods completely off the list was a dick move.

I will refer to it as the D move from now on.

To add to the Dater bashing, he seems to fancy himself as some sort of Eklund with all the rumors he has been posting that are not coming true. It’s a great thing to aspire to, for sure.
Red Wings Suck
Ugh
He was awesome last year, but this year he’s gone completely nuts. Frei has been a nice voice of reason.
Which is funny because it was the opposite last year. I think Joses leaving hit dater pretty hard.

Oh, Ambien.
We have a history, and it was pretty freaking insane. That stuff can really mess with you.
Seriously?
The #1 start should never be for the losing team either. Even if they guy scores a hat trick in a 3-4 game.

I wouldn’t say never for the losing team, you start doing that and eventually you end up with crap like the Conn Symthe only going to the winning team regardless of how good someone was on a losing team, and thats just stupid. If the guy scores a hattrick and dominates the game for the losing team and is the only reason it was close give hime the first star, or if the goalie makse 40odd saves and keeps them in the game they deserve it. But not when they’re were other players who deserved it more on the winning team like Boods.

Eh, the Conn Smythe is a the master personal achievement in hockey. The 3 stars are a stupid gimmick to give the home fans one more reason to cheer before they go home.

It's just a small nod
to those who excelled in the game that night. The Conn Smythe usually does go to the winning team, but there are times when it doesn’t.
I know
I’m more just pissed at Brodeur for being such an subtle arrogant jerk. he reckons the Conn Smythe should only go to someone on the winning team because Giguere got it instead of him in 03.

I’ve got very little respect for Brodeur, hes a great goalie but he seeems like a tool. He’s so arrogant, but not the outright arrogance Roy had. Brodeur trys to be the humble modest kinda person when in reality he’s incredibly arrogant and it annnoys me. I got angry when he was talking about Lundqvist and said something along the lines of “I don’t like his style of play, it’s too weird and not traditional” and thats coming from someone who prides himself on the fact he has a hybrid stytle and thinks it makes him better than everyone else. Who the hell is he to criticize another goalies style. A goaltenders style is always a personal choice and as long as he keeps the puck out of the net who cares what he does as long as it doesn’t involve throwing your stick and diving to the ground.

His book was obnoxious, dude.
I think you mentioned reading it, but when I was reading it, I was getting so annoyed. All of his contract stuff was ridiculous. He’s a great goalie, but I wouldn’t hang out with him.
Yeah, his book put me off him so much. Especially the part where he was bitching about Roy “Demanding” to play every game in Naano and then went it came time for Brodeur to start in Salt lake he did the same thing and would always be talking to the coaches. Even when he wasn’t scheduled to start and Luongo was he’d say he wanted to be backup and sit on th bench to offer advice and he’d say that he felt bad for Turco and Luongo that they didn’t play every game but they had future olympics they’d play in and he did the exact same thing Roy did. I don’t think Turco was even dressed for a single game that olympics because of Brodeur.

Stars
3. Symth
2. Hejduk
1. Bernier
What a joke. Boods should have had one of the top 2 stars.

Tonights Stars!
- Smyth
- Hejduk
- Bernier

I feel that.
True story, actually. Since the morning of the Dallas game, I’ve been exhausted and haven’t stopped running around doing stuff since. I have like two 5 o’clock shadows stacked on top of each other. If I’m not careful, I’m going to look like Jake Plummer pretty soon.
Total OT Thought
But my brother and I were talking about going to the game on Friday it was the first time I ever wanted to go to a game to watch the other team play – Blackhawks. How bad is it when you just want to watch good hockey whether it comes from your team or not?
Red Wings Suck
Well
Two seasons ago, the Aeros were absolutely horrible. They were rotating in terrible goalies, and were routinely giving up 6 goals a game. It got so bad that I drove to Beaumont to see the ECHL team play just so I could watch quality hockey again. Not entirely the same, but the frustration is similar.
I can understand that. I think it kinda seperates the ‘Hockey’ fans from ‘Bandwagon’ team fans, A hockey fan will go to agame involving teams they don’t fully support to watch a good game while a bandwagon fan will only go to watch their team, generally only when they’re playing well.

3 stars
I wonder if they just got posted wrong or something, because after Roach announced the order whereby Bernier got the #1 star, he says: “Here’s Julie with tonights #1 star, Ryan Smyth.”
No way an opposing player gets the #1 star in a shootout loss. I’m giving AD the benefit of doubt for now.
Beware the Baron VonWolski
…sorry, Julie’s insight and passion just blew my mind, and I forgot who she was talking to.
Beware the Baron VonWolski
Understandable
I think she even forgets who shes talking to she’s so passionate.

Nice call
on the bernier star SDTF bubblegum, even if he wasn’t on the losing team. I really couldn’t understand that, but I wouldn’t have given it to budaj. I’m not dater here, but he did let in 4 goals…. I was actually wondering why jones didn’t get a star. Or wolski for his complete and utter shootout sickness.
Wolski has been way sick on the shootout and I think he has been working harder during games but one sick shootout goal does not a star make.
Red Wings Suck
I think mostly because of his overall play, although I guess that would have made lappy a candidate too, but its gotta be nice knowing you can just sit him and chalk up a goal in the first slot. Maybe it doesn’t deserve a star, but bernier? I mean he lost, and its not like he was the only reason the canucks were in it… ok nevermind, he got two, and probably was the only reason. But maybe third or second star.
Bernier played hard after McCleod pissed him off and that’s great. But yeah, he should have been second or third star, not first.
Red Wings Suck
There were just too many numbers
for them to give it to a guy like Wolski, who technically didn’t put up anything tonight. Stastny had a couple assists, so he could have just as easily gotten a star. Don’t hang all 4 of those on Budaj, though.
I’m not hanging them all on budaj, I just have see better (and worse) games from him. In my experience of watching, a goalie doesn’t get a star unless the other team is routinely shaking their heads coming off the ice…
We really played the most hard-fought game of the season tonight, IMO. Fights, hitting, scoring, defense, goaltending… the whole package. Win or lose, never mind sleeping in the last 3 minutes of the second, we played a great all-around game and one I would love to see more of win or lose.
Red Wings Suck
not to mention come from behind, and not quitting. IIRC the avs are one of the NHL leaders in victories when trailing. Wheres DD when you need him?
Not this season. I saw the stats today on the main site. Before tonight, we had yet to come back after trailing in the second.
Red Wings Suck
Ouch
i swear I saw something that said we were better than that. I’m gonna go ahead and blame that one on my new puppy distracting me.
Typical Defenseman, blame something else.

On the three stars
Someone had an article (sorry I don’t have it) where they explained the process, and it seems that you have to make your three star selections with about five minutes or so remaining in regulation. Think about that the next time you complain about someone’s picks.
5 minutes left
still doesn’t excuse Budaj’s absence. He had been outstanding even before that, despite his defense’s best efforts to give up ten goals so they could lose faith in him again.
So put that in your pipe and smoke it.
They call me Bubblegum.
