Playoffs Open Thread
Philadelphia finished off the surprisingly ineffective Canadiens 6-4, to win the series four games to one. Most likely there will be a battle of Pennsylvania in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Sunday's games: Rangers at Penguins, 12:00 PM Mountain time on NBC, and then the Sharks at Stars at 7:00 PM on Versus.
This is a game day open thread for anyone inclined to discuss these games. Have at it.

Re: Wow
Yeah, they've been consistently horrible this year.
I wish Gary Thorne still did hockey, or could at least moonlight for NBC.
After a Period and a Half
The Pens score on the powerplay. It could have been the Rangers scoring on their last powerplay but the Pens completely shut them down. This is now an interesting game.
2-0
Looks like Pens-Flyers and Stars-Red Wings (unless Sharks can pull of the less impossible)
God I can't find one likable team in that foursome.
Well
Maybe i do have jinxing powers, I need to learn how to harnass my newfound power for good and not evil

Anyone see this
You can quibble about Quenneville's tinkering with his lines, slam the lack of productivity on the power play or decry the coach's history of impatience with goaltending. Passionate detractors can be heard grumbling from the cheap seats of the Pepsi Center.
But after Coach Q gutted out adversity the hockey gods seemed to take great pleasure in giving the Avs via nasty crosschecks and significant injuries to Sakic, rising star Paul Stastny and big free-agent acquisition Ryan Smyth, it seems to me that Quenneville's performance has earned another term on the Colorado bench
You can cite this stuff we like to call "coaching" but the guys gritty. Since David Eckstein is busy playing baseball Q is the only person who can give grit behind the bench.
ridiculous
Re: Anyone see this
The ongoing theme is going to be the injuries. Q is going to be spared because his constant mistakes were overshadowed by the run of bad luck the team faced all year.
So it goes. It's just a shame to see "serious journalists" get suckered, too.
That makes no sense
though because if you look at the year before i don't think we had many injuries and still missed the playoffs. It's not like we had ultra successful years when he was head coach before this year.
Wow
What a nail bitter of a game. Although OT is not looking good for the Rangers with the Pens on the PP for the first three minutes. That non-call on the high stick of Drury wasn't called but same action made by Drury was called. Pathetic.
1-0 Stars
End of 2. sharks are pressing though

Nabokov
Owned the first OT. That was some spectacular goaltending.

Good God
This is my first season of playoff Hockey since I moved to the Eastern Time Zone. Good god these OT games go late.
Re: Stars win 2-1
ESPN said it was the eighth longest playoff game in history or something like that. Or maybe eighth longest game ever.
One of the AHL
playoff games went 5OT's i think. It was Albany vs Philly, the losing goalie made 98 saves, something like 60 in OT and got the second star.
Re: One of the AHL
Yeah, I read about that. 98 saves and still lost the game. That's got to be depressing.
