Your Middle Of The Week Thread
Look, if the Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News have given up and are just mailing it in, so am I. If the real journalists can't be bothered to write at this point in the off-season, then this blogger can't be bothered, either.
...
Here's the quote of the day, in response to Dater's extremely brief blog post about Andrew Raycroft and whether or not the much-maligned backup goalie "still has it":
Well, he better “still have it”, because Peter Budaj never had it, and I doubt he ever will.
Raycroft, our playoff hopes rest in your hands.

Dear James,
Goalies that “still have it” don’t take a huge paycut when they change teams. They also don’t get bought out by one of the most poorly run teams of the last 5 years.
Raycroft is a backup to Budaj. Get used to it. Goaltending is the least of our worries when 3/4 of the lineup can’t survive past the halfway mark of the season.

I never really watched raycroft, I just know he was decent as a rookie and declined slowly. But all this hate from EVERYONE in hockey circles is really worrying. I thought it was a decent pickup for a backup, now I’m getting worried.
So Theodore had a resurgence and is suddenly a great goalie again, but Budaj (who’s numbers were not all that different) is suddenly a terrible goalie? Boy some of these so called Avs fans are getting as bad as Leaf and Habs fans.
I hope Rycroft turns his game around, but I doubt he’ll even get a chance to start consecutive games unless Boods slips on an icy step outside his house.

Haha. I assume you meant Raycroft, not Rycroft. Poor Rycroft isn’t turning anything around.
And what kind of twisted irony would it be for a hockey player to injure himself walking on ice?
Go Avs! Let's get some goals!
Theodore
video interview of Jose Theodore (part 1 is today, part 2 tomorrow). Not all that interesting, except when he points out that his father was English and that his name is pronounced the way it looks – none of this Tea Adore crap.
