Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Continues Rampage, New York Wins On Road

This has nothing to do with the Avs, and very little to do with the NHL in general but I figured I'd post it anyway to show just how much class NHL teams have. The Penguins signed a 8 year old Make-A-Wish foundation kid to a one day contract and let him practice with the team before they're game against Carolina. Incredibly classy gesture that should get more media coverage than it probably does. Gives everyone a good impression of NHL teams when they read stuff like this.

With the way they've been playing

they were probably hoping he could play wing.

I agree totally that these things should get more media attention than they do. Then again, the NFL spends millions of dollars on primetime commercials showing how awesome they are for charity. Why not spend those millions of dollars on charities instead of showing the world how generous you are?

I'm back to doing what I love most and it feels great.

Yeah

Thats my main hatred about the US elections. Obama was given something like $150million for his campaign so he can talk about making a change. Why not use that money to actually make a change. I’m sure the US public would take that into account.
“10 million dollars on a losing campaign
20 million starving and writhing in pain.
Big strong people, unwilling to give
Small in vision and perspective.”

Wow

How cool is that! I totally just did the girly thing and teared up reading the story. I can’t imagine how awesome that little boy felt. Truly a great day for Pittsburg and Jacob.

Just one of the many differences between the NHL and other “professional” sports.

We hear about things like this a lot with the Avs, but I’m sure most of the NHL clubs do a lot of charity work.
And I think that is why the attitudes of many of the players is what it is, hard not to be humbled when you work with some of these kids.
