I wasn't going to do much of a preview for this game, since it's pretty obvious the Avalanche have little chance of winning against the almighty San Jose Sharks and their attractive, gifted, and downright genius first-year head coach Todd McLellan. Seriously, 34-6-5? What ever happened to parity?
But this game could be pretty cool, because it will be Claude Lemieux's first visit to the Pepsi Center since January 2003. In case you've been living in a cave (kind of like I have), you're already aware that Lemieux is back in professional hockey and back in the NHL since being called up by the Sharks just before the All-Star break.
Though I know it's an endless source of entertainment for the regulars around MHH, the Top 19 list (left sidebar, still incomplete) is good for something: those unaware of Claude Lemieux's long career and his stint with the Avalanche can check out the entry dedicated to him.
Oh, and I was totally right last week when I said that the goalie carousel is here again with a vengeance. Peter Budaj's total crapping of the bed in his last start means Andrew Raycroft gets the nod tonight, even though Budaj has had five days to rest. Evgeni Nabokov will be in the net for the Sharks for yet another win, I'm sure.

Can’t contribute much to the thread, because I’ll be in class, but it would really make my day if the Avs found a way to win tonight. I mean, they won’t, but I’m daring them to prove me wron.
Why the glum faces? Just visualize how the avs can win….Nabokov sprains his knee in the shower, Joe Thornton breaks both his hand and Devin Setigochi’s in a bizarre thumb war accident., claude lemieux and rob blake get their walkers tangled up in the hallway…even after all that, Sharks 4-avs 2. Hopefully not…but the sharks are rolling I believe they are 7-2-1 in their last ten.
But lets face it you either get the good avs or the bad avs, that’s what a .500 team is.

Nice. I visited an old friend in hell (Detroit) last weekend who had his mite team up there for a tournament. Since all the parents couldn’t take their leftover booze on the plane home, I went home with 3 huge bags of assorted beverages.

On a positive note
My team had aworse power play than the Avs on Sunday. We play with a running clock and with 1 minute left We iced the puck and some idiot decided to leave the puck at their end, thus killing 30 seconds while we waited at the face off circle and someone slowly went to retrieve it. They also scored a Shorthanded goal. We had no shots to my recollection.

Lol. I watch my buddy coach his Mites team (8 year olds) at the national finals in Detroit last weekend. They cycled and used their points better than my mens league team. I wasn’t sure if I should be damn impressed or depressed.

I was pissed, I only got about 5 seconds of rest in our PP, It was shocking watching our defense, we either all sat in the offensive zone which led to a breakaway for them or had 2 in the offensive zone and 3 at the red line, which led to a scoring chance for the other team. I also got completly screened by my defender who was standing at the top of the crease, pretending to be Smyth or something, I don’t know. Plus my slightly off positioning meant I missed the shot that should have been saved.

My problem is I blame myself for everything and generally not my Defense. My messsed up thinking includes greatness like “I’ve seen Roy or Brodeur save that. I should be able to. Why, after 6 months am I not as good as the Aussie goalie thats been playing for years.”
Plus I hate losing so Quitting would be conceding defeat, plus It’s a total dick move that I’m too proud and competitive to do.

I’ve always thought it wouldn’t help a team. Altitude just mentioned that as well. I know Tampa wanted to do a Blackout during the cup run and chose a Whiteout instead so Khabby wouldn’t lose the puck in the crowed. Wouldn’t the same thing happen with the jerseys though, They’d get lost in jerseys.

Here’s my take- Foote just laid a giant stink pickle, which is making Clark vomit out his mouthguard. Hannan is looking the other way because that isn’t his defensive responsibility, while Leopold is grinning because he’s not on the ice and knows that it can’t hurt him if he can’t smell it. JML is watching Beachie undress in the stands to get his attention. It’s working, but she also got Rusty’s attention. Tarnqvist is just saying, "that ain’t solid, but at least DD at MHH thinks I have been".
