Last year, the Blackhawks were kind of so-so...but they owned the Avs. This year, the Blackhawks are better than so-so. And yep, they still have our number. We've beaten the Hawks just once in the last two seasons (1-4-1) and have been outscored 22-16. Uh-oh.

Ian Laperriere is still out. I haven't read anything about Ben Guite's status. Isn't it odd that we almost never hear about the status of injured 4th liners? Willsie...McCormick...Guite...is there a reason these guys don't get any media love?

For Chicago, Nickolai Khabibulin is the projected starter. For the Avs, Andrew Raycroft will get his 2nd straight start after beating Nashville on Tuesday. Normally, I'd be a bit down about that, but I found out today that I'll be attending the Super Bowl. And, I saved a bundle on my car insurance.

Sorry, I know this board kisses the ground that Budaj walks on. But at this point, if this team wants to get into the playoffs, you need to play the guy getting the “W” in net (regardless of how many goals go in)…and right now that’s Raycroft. Neither of these goalies are stellar…so in the end it won’t matter much

My problem with the muppets is they’re confused idiots. Raycroft has the better record, no one will argue that but Budaj is the better goalie. They’re 2 seperate things. Just like Osgood has one of the best records in the NHL but is one of the worst starting goalies.

Both Budaj and Raycroft seem to have rebound issues. Budaj just seems to work harder to correct deficiencies and stay in position whereas Raycroft is just lucky.

But they now have a lot of money tied up in a few players…I heard they will have like 16-17 million to pay 15-16 other players? Not going to be much of a supporting cast there

Good move by the Pens, but now they have almost 40 milion already commited for next season to only 7 players (Crosby,Malkin,Staal,Gonchar,Whitney,Orpik,Fleury).
Even if the cap stays the same (wich I doubt), they’ll have only 17 milion to sign another 16 players.

I’m not sure how accurate that is but if it’s close, the Pens could be in trouble.
