I’m playing the part at work today. Breaking every piece of dress code this radio station has:

Thank you Joe Sakic for making me a better hockey fan!
Now you’re making me wish I had worn my Sakic jersey to work too.

earlier this week I wore my Sakic Team Canada Jersey (#91). Yesterday I wore my Sakic 3rd. Today I’ve my classic burgundy Avalanche jersey on.

I had a blue Sakic ’Nords jersey…bhut someone offered me 180 bucks for it…and since I had the white one, I went for it
Radio stations have dress codes?? Glad I only volunteer at one. I get to dress in whatever, and drink beer during my show. Of course, I don’t get paid.
Get rid of the loser point

Joe is one of the greatest hockey players ever. He was the foundation of this franchise and will be missed dearly!

Well like I noted over at HF
My question is…I do have Versus. But if the ceremony starts at 6:45 (7:45 Central time)…the first Versus game will NOT be done yet. So, will Gamecenter Live (On-line Center Ice, which I purchased this year) pick up the Altitude feed for the ceremony at least?
The questions I have
Oh that I don’t know… but I can check my Center Ice sched tonight. (everyone has free Center Ice until Oct. 24th)

That’s right, they always do the first week free dont they….hmmm. Sorry wifey, I’m stealing the couch tonight!
Oh
bummer. I guess Direct TV customers have it until the 24th, maybe trying to calm the mad hockey base?

so there’s no way to watch the tribute if you don’t have altitude?
We’ll just get some lame 1 min montage done by the VS jerks between the game?

From “Puck the Media” blog:
InDemand, the distributor of pay packages to cable operators, said today that it will extend its free preview of the NHL Center Ice hockey package by three weeks to cable operators.
That means that subscribers to Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Bright House Networks, Cablevision Systems, Bresnan Communications and Midcontinent will be able to watch up to 12 games a week for free in HD during the three week preview.
It also states that DirecTV viewers will presumably only be getting one week. Cable has fired a pretty good shot at DirecTV it seems. We’ll see if this deal can get done.
I have the full Center Ice package
through DirecTv that I actually paid for and I won’t be able to see the game. What a piece of shit.

No Sakic Jersey For Me
I feel kind of out of place. But the last Sakic jersey I bought was when I was 12. Needless to say it doesn’t really fit me anymore. Luckily it fits the wife perfectly, so she will be wearing it tonight!
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Same here, but I gave mine to my 12 year-old little brother, and he’ll be wearing it to the game tonight. I haven’t decided if I’m gonna wear my 2002 Team Canada Foote sweater, or my original Avs home Ricci.
Either way, thanks for the memories Joe, and giving countless kids and adults alike a classy, selfless person (who also happened to be a legendary hockey player) to look up to.

Wow... this is pathetic...
They’ve renamed 19th street “Joe Sakic Way”. They did it at 9:19 this morning, and it will stay that way for the next 19 days.

Video
There’s a very poor video of it on the Avs site: http://avalanche.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?catid=-6&id=47325
If you turn it up really loud and quickly turn it down when the traffic passes you can understand some of it.

Watching Joe Sakic
Is the reason I am a hockey fan. The fact that my Sharks play the Avs after his retirement ceremony is very, very, bittersweet. The fact that the stupid snow blower ruined his last season pisses me off even more. At any rate, I’m taping this ceremony and game, and I would not miss it for the world!
Also, chiavs fan, where did you get that Quebec Sakic jersey, cause I WANT ONE. BADLY!

Sakic...
…Fuck yeah.
One work meeting then I’m off (for the weekend no less) to change into my jersey and then head to old C’s. Hell yeah

Sadly, I don’t own a Super Joe jersey
no, I don’t think so

ESPN still has Super Joe listed on the current Avalanche roster as of 7:06 PM EDT:

The Avs may suck now, but they've still won a Cup more recently than 75% of the NHL.
And Arnason, by the way.

I’ve been coming here every day for over a year now and have yet to post anything, but sitting here in my Sakic t-shirt under my Sakic jersey with my Avs hat on its starting to hit me how much this sucks and how much Super Joe will be missed…to our captain!
welcome to the mad house!
