In article about what a great time it is for Denver sports, the once respected Andrew Feinstein completely ignores the most successful franchise in town over the past 15 years.

To be mildly fair

He did mention that he knows about dick-all about hockey, so he doesn’t want to unintelligently talk about it.

Nevertheless, even the commentators ignore the Avalanche. That’s kinda sad.

Not an excuse

a quick e-mail to DD, Joe or Mike and a quick:

I don’t follow the Avs, but DD over at our sister blog MHH said …

True

Which is why I said mildly fair.

That was a lame excuse

He actually says that he considers the Avs as an “adopted 4th child”, then tries to soften the blow by saying that he doesn’t know enough. I would hope that you wouldn’t adopt a child if you don’t love it as much as your other children.

Maybe he didn’t mean anything, but it was a terribly poor choice of words (then again, we are talking about the guy that managed to become pretty successful with a website originally dedicated solely to demanding that George Karl be fired). The fact is, the Denver Nuggets may not exist were it not for the Avs subsidizing them for the better part of a decade.

My contention with the lame excuse

is that he projected the standing the Avs have in his mind to all Denver fans by saying “our three favorite teams.” Extremely lame and not backed by evidence over the years.

Where will you be on October 1st, 2009 at 6:45 PM Mountain Time?

Amen

I just thought it was a horrendously stupid article. If Feinstein wants to speak for himself, fine. Do it on your own blog, though, not one on SB Nation.

it's too bad

because I personally see a lot of parallels between the Bronco’s season and the Avs season so far, and not just because they both beat the Boston team this weekend.

You have the offseason upheaval. The new coach that wasn’t exactly warmly welcomed. The trading off the best player for a return that the majority questioned. Low expecations. The team buying into said coach’s system and having that pay dividends. Oh, and, of course, the fucking butt ugly uniforms.

That was an article I never got around to writing this week and now you all get it in ultra-condensed form. Enjoy!

Are you confusing the Broncos and the Nuggets? Your talking about the Broncos but none of those guys have said anything about the Avs recently. (Or possibly ever. Sometimes I see stuff in their comments but the editors don’t say anything).

Hopefully #9 is not ten less than #19

nah, I mean the Broncos.

in other words, it’s too bad he didn’t mention the Avs because I think he could have drawn some interesting parallels between the Avs and Broncos.

I know nothing about the Nuggets (or Rockies). But I’m not trying to write a piece about sports in Denver

Meh

Nuggets. Who cares?
Broncos. Who cares?
Rockies. Who cares?

Sure I like sports, but all I really CARE about is the Avs.

I like the Mammoth ok too. Still only care about hockey. Not that I wouldn’t rather see a good rockies game than any Detroit game of any kind.

Except, of course,

the game where the Avs beat the snot out of the dead things.

Sorry

I’m not including avs-red wings games in that sentiment. I will definitely watch those.

Hmmm,

so a punk bandwagoner who “proved” his chops by crying for the head of the man who was able to turn the sad sack, money-grubbing band of 8 foot 3 year olds into a formidable competitor this last season (by importing a guy who leads by example, works hard and lets his game do the talking – remind us of anyone??) and now adulates both the coach and his Thuggets doesn’t have the rudimentary intelligence to acknowledge the franchise that paid for his sack of shit team for more than a decade.

Disappointing? Maybe. Surprising? Hardly.
