Wolski Benched Again
Sacco: "I felt I needed to play the guys that gave us the best chance to win. The guys that did it, the guys that were playing, did a tremendous job."

Well, this is now 3 coaches that have tried to give the floater a kick in the pants. And it usually works…for one game. I hope he gets it soon, and plays every game like he did those first 2.
I’ve been over Wolski for quite some time. I just don’t think he has the desire or drive to be great.
There is basically a cumulative Niagra Falls of shit happening right now.

I thought that was the case
He had a few real strong shifts in the first period, but I noticed a few occasions where he had a chance to finish a check and didn’t. Sacco’s being pretty tough on him. I hope it works. How about Wolski and Liles for Kovalchuk?

I’m a big Wolski fan, but there were a couple shifts last night where it was obvious he was dogging it. One in particular in the second period he didn’t come back to even try to get the puck from am Aile and it led to a RW scoring chance. I thought to myself (well we won’t be seeing him again this game)
And we didn’t.
Wolaki is talented and it seems like he’s gotten by so long on his talent that he takes the occasional game off, especially after playing well. I’m glad Sacco is holding his feet to the fire a bit, hopefully he’ll understand that he needs to play every game hard.

If Atlanta can’t get him signed by the trade deadline The Avs are going to have to part with someone BIG for him. Like Shattenkirk + 1st. He’s one of the 10 best players in hockey.
That said if the Avs can get him without giving up Shattenkirk, O’Reilly or Duchene.. I think they should do it. He’d fit in really well (or just wait until the summer)

Liles, Wolski, a prospect not named Shattenkirk, and a 1st might do it. The risk on our part though, so huge. If he didn’t re-sign here, it would be catastrophic to our future.
yeah
I’m in favor of letting him play it out and then try for him in the offseason. If Atlanta’s desperate (like FLA was with Bouwmeester) we might be able to get him for Wolski and a 1st at the deadline, but I’m not sure rental players are worth it.
And He wouldn’t be worth it unless the Avs keep this pace up and there’s actually reason to believe the Avs are cup contenders. I’m happy with the fast start, but I don’t think that’s the case.

Lilessome other dude, Wolski, a prospect not named Shattenkirk, and a 1st might do it.
I am gonna keep doing it until that gibberish stops.

There is no way we can afford him. He’ll be asking for 8 mil a year and up. We could manage to afford that for a year, maybe, but then these young guys will get their raise. He might be worth a propsect and picks, as a loan-player, despite how much i hate that term, for the playoffs.
Avalanche 2009-2010: We fend off 7 man power plays? Do you?
After this season and economy, no one’s getting 8M a year cap hits anymore. Hell the cap might go down
The Avs have A LOT of salary off the books after this season (Clark, Foote, Salei, Tucker)
The Avs should be able to afford him after this season.

I still don’t think Footer is going anywhere. Why would they give him the C if they planned on shipping him off? And unless he gets a major injury (knock on wood), he won’t retire at the end of this year. He’s still effective enough to stick around, no matter how slowly he skates.

Looks like the cap won't go down
Caught the comments on Hot Stove League (or whatever it’s called) on HNIC this past Saturday and they said the rumor of the cap falling 10-20 percent looks like it’s just that – a rumor. They pointed out that’s great news for the Hawks. Forgot if it was the dude with the wispy facial hair who said it, or the old grumpy dude. Wasn’t Milbury or McLean.

After the Bouwmeester deal last year
Atlanta might be pushing a panic button on the situation. I’m not saying it isn’t enough, just that a team might pry him away for 70 cents on the dollar, especially if Atlanta is well out of the race. I think the last thing the Thrashers want to do is have to deal his rights for 20 cents on the dollar on draft night.
