One Year Ago...

A year ago today...

Matt Duchene was centering the second line for the Brampton Battalion.

Ryan O'Reilly was playing for the Erie Otters.

T.J. Galiardi, T.J. Hensick, Chris Stewart, Matt Hendricks and Kyle Cumiskey were playing in Lake Erie.

Kyle Quincey was getting acclimated to his new team (Los Angeles) after being waived by Detroit.

David Jones was playing on the 3rd line with Tyler Arnason. Marek Svatos was the left wing.

Wojtek Wolski was playing on the 2nd line with Joe Sakic and Darcy Tucker.

Cody McCormick was our 4th line center.

Paul Stastny had 11 points in his first 7 games.

Peter Budaj was the Avs' starting goalie.

Craig Anderson had made just one appearance for the Panthers, in relief.

Tony Granato was our coach.

What a difference a year makes.

A year ago today I was…still buried under law books and neglecting my blog duties. Not much change around here.

The Avs may (or may not) suck now, but they've still won a Cup more recently than 75% of the NHL.

You can see why things shut down...

last season other then injuries the Avs just were just ran poorly…look @ the 2nd and 3rd lines last season theres no flow there how do Jones-Arnason-Svats go together same can be said for Wolski-Sakic-Tucker…now we have a lot of youngins starting together so they can grow and gel with one another.

Speaking of Granato…his brother apparently wasn’t made out for head coaching either. Don Granato was coaching the AHL’s Chicago Wolves (The Thrashers farm team)…missed the playoffs last year (just the 2nd time in the teams 14 years history)…then started the year 1-5 and got canned.

Apparently poor coaching (head coaching anyway) runs in the family

The jury is out on the Granato coaching legacy until Cammi gets a shot. I have a feeling she’d have much more success.

Hyphens cause writers more trouble than any other form of punctuation, except perhaps commas.

That must be the girl version of hockey hair?

There is basically a cumulative Niagra Falls of shit happening right now.

And yet it looks strikingly similar to the male version:

It’s 1993 it looks like. That awful transition period between the 80’s and the full on 90’s.

One also has to wonder if she was considering a mullet at this point in time.

She looks better here:

Been saying that for years.

Shut up!

I really don’t want to hear ANYTHING more about that damned team. Ug.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
