Avs recall Chris Durno

Watching Hensuck Arnason around for around 7 minutes against the wheel the other night, and seeing that they had called up Brian "We'llsee why he is a career minor leaguer at best" Willsie, I couldn't help but wonder, "Why not Durno?"  The guy is big, looks like he can skate and has shown some skill, and looked pretty good during his brief stints with the Avs last season.  Also, he's leading the Monsters in scoring with 6 goals and 3 assists in 8 games.

So I go to the LEM website and look at the team stats, and Durno has an "X" next to his name.  Like other guys the Avs have recalled, meaning he's not on the LEM active roster.  Is he hurt or has he been recalled?  I'd love to see him given a shot over Hensuck and Willsie.

Update: Dater confirms in his blog that Durno has been called up.  I guess the LEM website beat him to the scoop, however.

To Minny for a 4th?

5th? 6th? Pylon to be named later?

Conditional pylon.

The Avs may (or may not) suck now, but they've still won a Cup more recently than 75% of the NHL.

Really or are you guys just joking around? He went from a guy who played 60 some odd games last year to a guy who might get some playing time when other guys are hurt. Gotta love depth.

This team will make the playoffs and upset the Sharks in the first round...it's our turn.

Not joking around and fixed
He went from a guy who “played” 60 some odd games last year to a guy who might get some playing time when other guys are hurt.

He barely gave any effort last season, and continued to float/stand around looking clueless the other night. For whatever reason he just doesn’t look like a guy who wants to be out there. Sort of reminds me of someone else ….

Except for the benching. Arnason never got benched.

I’m still trying to figure out why the fuck nobody ever benched him. Seriously.

Dater, interview somebody already and find out.

Arnason got benched in the AHL…(and it’s the Wolfpack by the way). Which goes to show you a lot about the coaching on a man named Tony Granato.

Don’t forget that Q never benched him either.

Hoping for the best, expecting the worst, hating the Wings.

He's in Hartford now

I think the Bulldogs tried to trade him for one of those Chipotle burrito blimps that drop coupons, in exchange They’d get a new cashier.

Chipotle balked

I proposed this trade on Sat. night and still think it would be good for all involved. MIN is scary weak down the middle and Hensick can, if he puts his mind to it, skate well (he did for a short time on a line last year with Highlander and Stewie). He has, however, blown his chances here IMO. Change of scenery would do him good and the pick could potentially do us good.

I’d love to see him given a shot over Hensuck and Willsie.

I agree. I also think he would fit into this “new identity” of the Avs: energetic and tough to play against. Not sure how Hensick and Willsie fit into that scheme.

AD confirms Durno call up.

And twitter actually worked for something. Hope he gets a shot on this road trip. I’ve seen enough of Hensuck. More than enough.

Overall, I’m finding it to be more useful and less annoying than facebook. Guess I’m not much of a social networker.

I'm glad Durno is up

cos’ i was rooting for him. Just curious though, does anyone know what the deal with Matt Hendricks was in the Wings’ game? i think the stat line said that he played less than two minutes total. Was he hurt? Or did he do something stupid (something I excel at)? In any case, I look forward to seeing a line with Hendricks, Durno and Koci.

I think I saw somewhere on twitter that he has a thigh injury sustained in the Wings game… I’m too lazy to look for confirmation tho. Maybe its in the story about current Avs lineup that I haven’t read yet.

Thanks Joe...

Are we talking about this Durno?

This always makes me laugh. Very insightful into the secret origins of Chris Durno.

“I guess the LEM website beat him to the scoop, however.”

when I think there’s a move pending, I’ll often check out the LEM’s list of transactions page (http://theahl.com/stats/transactions.php?f_season_id=30&f_team_id=373). It often will get up there before the Avs can get out a press release
