Tons of fun! We had a huge, drunk cheering section that did this barking thing every time we scored. (Our team name is Hockey Dogs.) lol. One guy even had a horn that he’d set off after a goal. Too freaking funny.

He was asked about Stastny be name, Sacco quick replied that it’s not about one guy…he was very quick to lay the blame on the team and not focus on one “star” player.

It’s refreshing to hear them speak honestly about their product. SoS still has that “spin it positive” habit going on a bit, but I think that will change.

They were the least of our problems...
…but the jerseys sucked, plain and simple. On my TV they looked like a cross between the Blues and the Sharks with maybe some other generic crap thrown in. In other words, there was nothing about them that made me look at them and instantly say, “hey, them’s the Avs out there!” Or even, “wow, even though they’re reminiscent of some other teams, they still look great.”
Blah blah blah, cry cry cry, what’s done is done…but I don’t think there’s any way that fans buy as many of those as the old 3rds. Those were terrific, these suck.

Agree with all of you on the jerseys looking good in person
We ended up buying one for our son. He loves it. Looks good on him.
Beachie: I have seen a picture of you in the burgundy third, and I think this one would look nice on you. Everything is sewn, including the shoulder stuff; no iron-on replica crap. The material is like the unipron. The blue matched the blue of their regular jersey. I saw several women in the jerseys and the lack of striping at the bottom both slimmed and lengthened their figures. I saw a couple of O’Reilly jerseys, which was cool to see. Anyway, that’s just my opinion.

I thought the jerseys looked fine. in fact, one feature I didn’t notice on Thursday was that the names on the back aren’t arched. for whatever reason, I really liked the way that looked.

Except for the “Avalanche” written across the back of the collar. W T F. I was ready to buy one until I saw that. I can’t even come up with any kind of creative sentence to describe the magnitude in which that is suck. Design FAIL.
As for the team: Yes, this was by far their worst game. But that’s 2 lackluster efforts at home in a row. Maybe they’re tired of playing their asses off for little fan support?

I also still liked the jerseys…except for the fact that the first time they wore them ended in such a massive fail. I actually really want to see the team play well while wearing them so I can focus more on the jersey and not on the horrific play.

I would say the Avs stopped playing
but that would imply they ever started. Bad game from the puck drop to the final horn.
Nice thing is that instead of having to go through an entire season of that sort of play, we just have games here and there of it.
I agree with Tucker, they need to get their swagger back. They have been coming out slow lately and teams are taking advantage of that. Once they get back to how they were playing, full of energy and confidence, from start to finish, they will be fine.

I think this game HAD to happen
The Avs have been winning a lot of games while giving up a ton of shots, not taking enough shots, or making comeback after comeback. They need a wake up call and maybe they finally got it.
I think this team is more than just “better”. I think they are pretty good. Great? Not yet. But a loss like this gives the team a good chance to evaluate and fix their problems. Sacco doesn’t seem like the type of coach to let this team just stop working. The players will not let themselves stop either.
I look forward to the Calgary game. We should see a much better Avalanche team.
Hopefully #9 is not ten less than #19

In each of the interviews I’ve read or watched from this game, every person – coach and players – said they needed to go back, figure out what they did wrong, and fix it. I feel pretty confident in saying the next game will look better.

Actually I kinda did. I missed just about every 2007-2008 sports season because of issues I was having with my life. 08-09 is me getting back in the sports saddle.

I only saw the third period and for the first part of that, right up until our second goal, I thought the Avs were playing brilliantly. From 4-0 down, to 4-2, I thought oy oy, we might be in with a monumental comeback here! It’s a testament to how well the Avs have played this year that I was even able to think that. Of course, that all came to a sudden end 25 seconds later, when the Nucks made it 5-2.
Oh well.
