Tom Preissing Waived
The Colorado Avalanche have placed defenseman Tom Preissing on waivers. This is not at all a surprise move; it's actually one we've been speculating would happen for some time now. Preissing has a $2.75 million salary and is signed through the end of next season. It is highly unlikely that he will be claimed and will instead be headed to the AHL (he cleared waivers in the spring when the Kings sent him to their farm team). In making this move, the Avalanche clear some cap space and Preissing gets a chance to play every day.
In other roster news, Kyle Cumiskey has been placed on the IR retroactive to November 23rd (meaning he'll miss at least tonight's game and Monday's game against Tampa Bay) while Adam Foote and Matt Hendricks have been activated and could play tonight.

Oh, Maybe some team will be drunk and pick him up.

you never know...
stranger things have happened…like some crazy team signing a lucrative deal with a guy (or two) who’d just been bought out by his team.
is it time to start using the Darcy Tucker Corollary again?

Nice guy
hope he gets his game back.
Colorado Avalanche: Please excuse the mess while we are under construction.
Posted this in the GDT, but here’s Sacco’s take on it:
“In fairness to Tommy, he missed training camp,” Sacco said. “He needed to play games. He needed to go down and he needed to be used in situations, he needs to play minutes, he needs to play games. That’s in the best interests of Tommy and the best interests of the club. That made the most sense for us, and hopefully, he can get his game in order and get his confidence back in his game.”
Foote returns to play

Yeah me too. I think it’s a good move for both Preissing and LEM though. LEM gets a player that has shown he can be both a good offensive defensemen and and defensive defensement (at least in his early NHL years). Preissing gets a chance to show why he should be in the NHL. Also, if the Avs finally trade a veteran d-man, they’ll have somebody to call up.
One down ...
… but Svatos is still on the roster.

Is there any way to put the Blackeyed Peas on waivers? I accidentally listened to “the radio” today.

Lake Erie
should actually be decent this year!
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
It’s good for his paycheck, I think I heard that you don’t have to pay into the escrow if you’re not in the NHL.
Ryan O'Reilly for the Calder.

Would make sense as that’s part of a union/CBA thing and you’re not a part of the union if you’re not playing in the NHL.
