Chicago Wolves/LEM Game
Guys (and Gals) -
I'm going to the Chicago Wolves Game with some friends on Friday. I selected this game because a.) its on a Friday, and b.) its against Lake Erie.
I'm wondering if you guys would like me to watch out for anything (or anyone) in particular? Who's the current starting goalie down there? Any particular Forward or D-man that you guys want me to keep an eye on?
I'll try and snap some photos for everyone.
Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving!

Certainly
I’d like to hear how Ryan Stoa is looking. Tyler Weiman is the current goaltender for LEM.

Apparently
Not that all that well.
A whole 6 pts in 21 games, and team worst -12.
A 2nd round rookie in the race for Calder? ORLY? Ya RLY!
Tyler Weiman and Trevor Cann are the two goalies for the Monsters; though Billy Sauer was recalled to Lake Erie today so I don’t know if there is an injury/illness to one of them.
The team as a whole is woeful defensively, it’s pretty putrid and the offense has started to dry up. Which doesn’t help now that two of their top three scorers have been recalled to Colorado. What’s frustrating is the young players have really had a tough time adjusting; McNicoll, Stoa, Mercier, etc haven’t quite put things together. Brandon Yip has yet to play this season due to a hand injury.
This team really needs a spark. I get to talk to STHs and other Monsters fans and there is a lot of frustration with the product they have been provided. They aren’t too happy with the parent club. The Avs injury bug the last couple of years really hasn’t helped.

That’s kind of the drawback to the whole “affiliation” thing. The Chicago Wolves fans had the same problem for a couple of years. When they were in the old IHL, they never missed the playoffs, and were Turner Cup favorites pretty much every year. Then they moved to the AHL and affiliated with the Thrashers, and missed the playoffs twice…
I can understand the Monsters fans frustrations…but that’s kind of the way it goes, so to speak.
I will be at the game on Friday as well with my 3-year-old. The first game we have ever gone to “just us.”
By the way, and I know you know this already Angelique…but the Monsters have scored a total of 4 goals in their last 5 games…including 2 shutouts in a row. OUCH!
re Sauer, he was reassigned today back to the ECHL. This time to Vegas, baby, Vegas!

I’m going to have to get my ass to some Wrangler’s games and scout him….

I kind of thought....
A kind of thought you might be in attendance, Tuuk.
We’re going to have a couple people going to their first live hockey game.
/excited.
i have a another request:
Mercier. I’ve had him pegged as a dark horse for a while now, I’d love to see some thoughts on him too!
The game will be televised on Fox Sports Ohio.

Looks like no Weiman tonight for you guys huh?

Nope, Cann played the 1st period, and was really shaky…giving up two kind of “eh” goals. Then Bill Sauer played the last 2 periods, and he was quite good. He gave up the game winner to Brett Sterling (a nice goal by Sterling)…but he played well enough to get the 3rd star
Sounds like Sauer is getting some frequent flyer miles. He played Thursday night in Las Vegas and help the Wranglers beat the Victoria Salmon Kings.
