The guy with the offensive upside? Why.

I’m excited to see Yip. Saw him play here in Chicago a couple of weeks back. He didn’t put up anything on the score-sheet, but he had a good presence.

As for Durno…I like him, but he’s been kind of “eh”

As noted, I am not a big Peter Budaj fan. Just so everyone knows...you know, so people don't have to point it out every post. That doesn't mean I want him to fail, as some have suggested...that is all

so chris durno: More famous for anything he’s done on the ice or just for blocking a camera? And speaking of a jersey foul, hopefully his parents just gave him that.

Fans are going to love Yip. As long as he avoids the boarding/charging stuff. He’s aggressive in all aspects of his game.

I’m excited about Yip. The Avs could use a hard hitting pesky player like that considering Koci’s all around uselessness is leaving McLeod to do all the dirty work.

can yip drop the gloves?

At BU we’d do that whenever he was on the ice.

I love giving the young guys a chance and the experience, but couldn’t Haydar help us now? He averaged .50 points per game in his last NHL stint. Or is it that if he left Erie that the Monsters would have no scoring (I mean less scoring than usual)?

If I remember right. . .

I got to see Yip play in a pre-season game against the Kings. In any case, I was rooting for him to make the team, Durno too. They’re both better than Stoa and Mercier at this point, glad to have them up in the Bigs.

ESPN Insider

ESPN’s hockey page has a link on it called “Here’s an Idea: Kovy to Avs” but it’s for insiders. Can anyone post the gist of that article or what the hell they are talking about?

Does anyone know if there has been any other player with Chinese heritage who played in the NHL?

I spent more effort eating a pudding than Tyler Arnason skated last year.

by Shoeshiner on Dec 18, 2009 9:06 PM MST reply actions

Yip would appear to be only the second “full-blooded” Chinese player to skate in the NHL, while there have been a few others of varied heritage.
