really that's the best you can do?

Really that's the best they could do, I can't even make myself wait for the recap thread or post in the live thread..Apparently I care way more than the avs did tonight.  I honestly noticed Mercier more often than Stastny tonight.  The avs are paying way too much money for someone to play every other or third night for him to not ever pretend to show up.  Does Liles want to be an av?  It's an honest question, he plays with no passion.

I was at the game

and you nailed it. They look like they were hung over from a binder the night before. Many passes went off, and the players would just look at each other, like they were saying “um, dude, you go get it….um…NO…YOU go GET It…..f’ it…..I’m not chasing it. Me neither”

The Avs were out hustled. When they could control the puck, there was 2 Wild on the puck. When the Wild had the puck, the Av’s looked like they were playing man coverage, and wouldn’t rotate around to the puck. Pretty half-assed for professionals.

oh….suites don’t suck to watch a game in…so if anyone else wants to invite me to their suite, please do so, I’ll be there.

I disagree. I thought the Avs had their legs last night, but it seemed like their sticks were asleep. They were winning the races to the loose pucks, they were pressuring the Wild and forcing turnovers. But every time they tried to turn that into offense by carrying, passing, or shooting, it seemed like the puck would bounce off the stick or the pass would be aimed two strides behind the recipient or the shot would dribble slowly wide of the net. I can’t explain it, but that’s what it looked like on my TV.

I don’t think you can argue lack of hustle on a night where they drew six minor penalties and only took one. I’m not disagreeing that they played badly, I’m just disagreeing on how they played badly.

oh all of this is right

it’s what happened next that got me. The, “You go get it look”

As for the Hustle part, when the Av’s had the puck in the offensive zone there always seemed to be two Wild on the puck as they rotated around well. And the Av’s had a hard time keeping one guy on the puck, or the puck on the sticks

Ummm

Yeah, about the suites, WE were given tickets to the last Red Wings game in the Shamrock Foods Suite. It truly was sweet!!

I think you’re too harsh on Stazzer and hotpocket. every player will have the occasional off-game and fans are always wanting to see their players perform at their peaks.

Playing solidly is also important for a starplayer, and they both did tonight.

This isn’t being harsh on Hotpocket anymore. He sits, and waits, and hesitates and pump fakes, and hesitates again, passes, gets the puck back, head fakes, holds the puck, waits, winds up for a shot…then pulls back, and eventually either releases a shot into a well blocked lane (since he waited too dang long)…or passes again.

This has been something that’s gone on all year with him. Last night, Quincey was the only guy who attempted a quick release point shot. Otherwise it was “hold on the perimeter, and see what happens” with Liles in charge of the PP.

In the game against St. Louis, Liles was quick with his point shots that led to a goal, and several great scoring chances. I thought he finally figured it out…he didn’t. Quite frankly, it’s getting old. Look, I know he doesn’t have a great shot, but just SHOOT, before the lane gets clogged.

Actually this has been an issue with Liles his entire career. When he’s feeling confident, he shoots first. When he’s not, he passes first. Also, he may have developed the habit of looking for the pass first under the Coach Q era. He said in an interview (I can’t remember when) that he was happy to have been given the green light to look for the shot first instead of the pass, so maybe some of his hesitation is a big ingrained (sp). That’s not to excuse him, though. He sucked last night…tho so did the rest of the team save Svatos. Where did that guy come from and can he stick around please?

2009-2010 Avs: a game away from being up on blocks

You are asking an awful lot there Beachie…at least of this year’s Svatos incarnation. I want that “double overtime, deke everyone and roof it past Turco” Svatos back

I wasn’t referring to him standing on the point during PPs. That’s awful and I reckon Budaj would make a stronger pivot.
I’m referring to his play in general.

when I talked about the Avs schedule on Monday, this is exactly the kind of thing I had in the back of my mind – complacency at home
