I haven't seen one of these so far this year, so I thought I'd take a couple minutes and do it myself. Here's what the western conference standings would look like if OT/SO losses didn't get a charity point.
Western Conference
Team GP Pts (slot change)
1. * San Jose 50 72
2. * Detroit 53 70
3. * Calgary 53 62
4. Chicago 51 58
5. Minnesota 52 54 (+2)
6. Anaheim 56 54
7. Dallas 52 52 (-2)
8. Edmonton 53 52 (+1)
9. Columbus 53 50 (+1)
10. Nashville 53 50 (+2)
11. Colorado 53 50 (+3)
12. Vancouver 52 48 (-4)
13. Phoenix 54 48
14. Los Angeles 51 46 (-3)
15. St. Louis 52 44
I thought it was interesting that the Avs jump into a tie for 9th, and Vancouver drops 4 slots. The Avs have been hurt a tremendous amount by not getting to OT before losing. How much longer must we endure the charity point nonsense? Are we really as bad as we've been moaning about, or are we just bad at losing at the "right" time?
