e're trying something a little different today here. The preview thread is going up first, with a separate game thread posting an hour before kickoff er, puck drop off. The game thread will be, as before, the place to hang out during the game.
As for the game, on paper the 'Canes seem to be about as all-around blah as the Avalanche are. Since they are located in the east, however, they are just barely outside of the playoff picture. The Avs are still in it, of course, but need to keep winning.
Andrew Raycroft will start again. I believe this is the first time he's started 4 straight for the Avs, but I'm far too lazy to look it up. Paul Stastny is still doubtful. Goaliepost.com doesn't have Carolina's starter yet, so I'll assume Cam Ward for now and update later if I'm wrong.
Finally, I'm happy to introduce another minor new MHH inovation: The Tale of the Tape.

Except
we have a habit of struggling against backups, and making them look like great goalies.

I wonder
which team is going to show up:
Team A: “The Designer Team” (the team we were supposed to see this year)
OR
Team B: “The. Worst. Avs.Team.Ever” (ya know, the one that just shows up for 20 minutes of the game, puts in 50% effort, blah-blah-blah)
Well, which ever team shows up, I wish that same team would show up for all the remaining games.
Avs. Sticking it to the Red Wings
I hope
for the team that has shown up the last 5 or 6 games. Win or lose, at least we’ve been in the fight and it’s been fun.

Agreed
No disrespect to the Tank 4 Tavares faction, but I prefer seeing the team fighting and working hard. I think for the players, it has to feel much better knowing that you fought hard, even if you lost. I know that is how my son feel when they lose a game – as long as you give 100%, that is all anyone can ask of you.

While it’s a catchy phrase, I still can’t cheer against the Avs….
… I cans till cheer for the teams worse than the Avs to do well and pass them though.

Damn afternoon games. Already made some plans to start getting things out of dwelling A and into dwelling B.
As much as I hate watching recorded games, I hate ticking off the gf even more so.
Enjoy the game.
Good Man
It’s good to have your priorities straight, it’s not as if you actually have to miss the game. I just hate it when I am planning to watch a recorded game and a friend calls after it ends and gives me the score. The worst is when they text it to you so you don’t even have a chance to tell them that you aren’t watching it till later.
