How scary are the Devils? They just demoted Scott Clemmenson and his 25-13-1 record. Instead, they'll go with some Martin Brodeur kid, who is 7 wins behind Patrick Roy on the all-time list. Hopefully, that will help shore up the Devils' woeful, 5th ranked goals allowed. Lucky us.
One bit of good news for the Tavar-Yes men and women out there; the Maple Leafs won last night, moving us into lottery land (only the bottom 5 teams have a shot at landing the #1 overall). He sure would look good in one of those ugly Avalanche uniprons, yes?
John-Michael Liles returns tonight, but that, of course, is probably not going to be enough to overcome the Devils. To cheer myself up, I've been looking over this and this. Hey, it's all I have.

Look for me!
I’ll be at the game rockin’ the #26 unipron and my girl will have on a joe sakic jersey shirt. heres to us gettin’ rowdy and reminding the crowd who beat who in 2001!
Have a GREAT time at the game
and just do what I do during the scary times (you know, when the puck is in our zone) just cover your eyes! Oh wait, you’re a guy – nevermind.

Tidbits From the NY Media
Devils’ Brodeur to Return Against Avalanche, NYTimes:
Thursday’s game could not have been better timed for Brodeur’s return. Colorado (28-32-1) is in last place in the Western Conference, and the Devils have not played since Saturday’s 4-0 loss to the Islanders. They have had three intense practices this week.
And:
Brodeur, who is seven victories shy of equaling Patrick Roy’s record of 551 career victories, is an obvious upgrade, but the Devils are proud that they won without him. The Devils have won four more games than at this point last season.
Maybe Marty will be rusty, or maybe the Devils will be rallying hard for Marty in case he’s rusty? I’m not sure G’s primary strategy this year of ‘lulling the better-regarded team into overconfidence and surprising them’ will work tonight. Still, should be an interesting game.

please pick up the white courtesy phone. Avs fans are calling and they need you there at the Prudential Center ASAP!

Is someone making they're wake up call yet.
Start now and maybe they’ll be awake and ready by the time the puck drops.

With our luck, we’ll draft him, he’ll decide he doesn’t want to be caught dead in a unipron, and he’ll demand he never play for the Avalanche (a la Lindros). But this time instead of making out like a bandit on the trade, we pick up a bunch of old has beens…

Yeah
That Lindross trade worked out pretty well for the Avs/Nordiques. I wouldn’t mind it happening again.

+1
We’re now actively hoping that we suck hard enough to get in the lottery, lady luck graces us with the #1 pick, and then JT turns out to had high altitudes and demands a trade so we can pick up more players.
We’ve officially lost our damn minds………….
2008-2009 Colorado Avalanche: Dry Humping Mediocrity
I'm not hoping for it
It’s just something I fear will happen again with the way this organization “seems” to be treating certain groups of veterans.
Though I might make that my new sig. MHH: Like the Avs organization, we’ve now officially lost our minds.

ooh, grabbing tavares then trading down for duchene or hedman and a couple of the best prospects in say, the thrashers system…oh man that would rule. Imagine getting Duchene or that Swede M S-P AND a killer goalie prospect like Pavelec. yum. or, hell, keep Taveras and play him next to Stastny or play him at #2 center and trade Wolski for a goalie.
I know it’s not happening, but shut up and let me dream. :(
big deadline trade

Pens get Kunitz (scoring wing for Sid) and Tangradi (good power wing prospect), Ducks get Whitney.
I think this is great for the Avs just because they won’t get stuck with Whitney, heh. Also another puck-mover off the board, probably increases Leo’s value. Hell, the Pens might want Leo more now, to replace Whitney.
I'm not worried, I know what's gonna happen
The way we’ve been playing we’ll win tonight, then lose to the rangers and islanders.
And then that douche FG will make some boneheaded trade to make us even more douchey. I wouldn’t put acquiring sloppy seconds Sean Avery beyond him
Get rid of the loser point
08-09 Avs- can we decline the penalty?
