Rocky Mountain News To Fold

Sad news from Denver, as the Rocky Mountain News has announced it will be folding tomorrow. Not being a resident of Colorado, I'm sure there are others who can chronicle the local impact much better than I can. I do know, though, that the RMN's hockey coverage will be sorely missed. I've long felt that Avalanche fans were incredibly lucky to have two top-notch papers covering their team. Sadly, it's now down to one.

I wish Rick Sadowski, Aaron J Lopez (who I think may have already left, as I haven't noticed his name on any recent articles) and the rest of the RMN staff all the best and offer my sincere appreciation for many years of excellence.

Yes, it’s a sad day in Denver indeed. I’ve been a subscriber to the Rocky since my family moved back to Colorado in 1993. In addition to the Avs writers, a tip of the hat to Pat Rooney who has covered the DU Pioneers hockey team.

They won’t be the last…

I don't believe in Peter Budaj.

sadly, they won’t.

Hyphens cause writers more trouble than any other form of punctuation, except perhaps commas.

:(

I’ve always been a Post man myself, but I started reading the Rocky when I was in high school (yes, I actually read the Denver Post before then, in middle school). I miss it already. 150 years. :(

I will miss being able to read a little more down to earth reporting of the team.
Now we’ll be left with just Dater and his muppets.

MHH: Like the Avs organization, we’ve now officially lost our minds.

I’ll miss the unbiased Avs reportings.

The Post has been running/operating the News for a while now. I was surprised it took this long.

I must say for once this season Dater was classy.

Well it didn’t involve Budaj or the Avalanche play.
