Do you really mean it this time?
It was mentioned the other day that the Avs migth be going to a play till you loss system in net…I had disagreed.
Now I’m not so sure.
MHH: Like the Avs organization, we’ve now officially lost our minds.

Well, Raycroft has more than one consecutive loss, if that means anything. So, we are not seeing one goalie lose and the other in net the following night. Still, it sure does seem like a carousel at this point. Win three, lose three; it’s all a change in net.
An ounce of confidence can carry you a mile toward winning. Oh, and Red Wings suck.
That was the case
but last three games….Raycroft – loss in Carolina (after 3 wins Detroit, Ottawa, Washington), Budaj – loss in Atlanta, Raycroft – loss in New Jersey, and we’ll see Budaj tomorrow in New York.
I had disagreed previously about having a carousel because both goalies had played consecutive games even with losses. But over these four games mentioned, it does begin to look like a carousel with neither goalie getting a start after losing.

After 3 years of Coach Q and his irrational decisions it is difficult to spot a goalie carousel. What What I’m saying is Q would switch out goalies seemingly at a whim. Budaj would play great but wouldn’t get the start, Theo would. This season, if there is nothing else I can say about TG, I respect his decisions in goal. He has given Budaj his chances in net. In fact I remember a lot of us worrying that Budaj would have 70+ starts and no break. Well, as the season has played out, it seems Budaj could not handle that many consecutive starts and Raycroft did well in his limited time. Now, neither are playing that good. It has been said and has been proven (by Budaj’s play) that he requires consecutive starts to be good. And he is not getting those anymore. As for Raycroft, well, he scares the crap out of me every game, so I have a bias there although, I will say he really has played better as of late. At this point, I really agree with Savage and others that Budaj should be traded and given a fair shake by another franchise because he hasn’t been given that with the Avs.

Remember
the same logic that puts Tucker on the ice the last few minutes of a tied game, and continually plays Arnie even though he has hit an NHL wall, is the same logic used in determining which goalie plays. I believe the goalie carousel has been abandoned for a much more sophisticated system: rock-paper-scissors. This time, Stoner was the rock and Boods was the paper.
Avs. Sticking it to the Red Wings
