Lemaire Done In Minnesota
Jacques Lemaire appears to be done as coach of the Minnesota Wild. Speculation has been that Lemaire would retire after the year, but it looks like he will just be moving on to a different team, possibly Montreal.
When asked if he would remain with the Wild in another position, Lemaire said he did not believe that would happen.
If Lemaire goes to Montreal, it would seem to add fuel to the Patrick Roy-to-Colorado rumors.

Hope he doesn't come here
at least as a head…
Maybee I’m having a blonde moment, but how would this kindle Roy rumors? Roy wouldn’t be the coach of the Habs so the next logical spot would be with the Avs?
Re: Lemaire: The wild do have a favorable GAA, but Backstrom (2.33, T-3rd best) is a big part of that and the Wild are 3 of 8 for the playoffs since their conception.
TSN’s defensive rankings (linked from Derek B’s fanpost don’t paint a great picture. It’s a stats-based look: “The TSN.ca Player Rankings … include the following stats: goals per game, assists per game, plus-minus, power play goals, shorthanded goals, game-winning goals, shots on goal, blocked shots, hits, giveaways, takeaways, faceoff won-loss and penalty differential (drawn – taken).”
The Wild’s top 4 are ranked a 269.4 (CO: 267.5) and their other three get a 197.7 (CO: 178.1, but that’s all the new callups bc of when it was written…). They’re without Brent Burns, but that suggests that the ‘defense first’ coach that Lemaire is doesn’t make him very effective.
I just want Drury back... I recognize the Drury->Morris->Statsny chain, and I stick with the statement.

yeah, that’s where I was going with that

To be honest
This is too bad. I’ve always thought Lemaire to be a bit overrated. I mean he’s been with the Wild forever, and how much success have they really had? Sure they have a first round upset, and a NW championship. And yes he’s got the Cup in NJ.
But he’s always talked about like he’s the heir to Bowman and a brilliant mastermind. Last I saw him in the playoffs he was out-coached by Joel Quenneville and couldn’t get the same team to the playoffs the following season.

TONY GRANATO!!!! Come on down. You’re the next contestant on “who wants to coach the Wild”!
Get rid of the loser point
08-09 Avs- can we decline the penalty?

Can we send him to Calgary? Maybe as an assistant coach to Keenan so that when Mike gets fired (which is inevitable), Tony can be the new head coach of the Flames.

For future considerations...
Like the 6 games a year that we’ll inevitably win if this deal were to go down.
