Today In Colorado Avalanche History
April 7, 2007 - Peter Forsberg makes his 1st - and, to date, only - visit to Denver as a member of the opposing team. The Avalanche organization shows some class by showing a video tribute to Foppa on the big screen. Forsberg returns the favor by assisting on Paul Kariya's winning goal, knocking the Avalanche out of the playoffs for the first time since they arrived in Denver. The Avs went 15-2-2 down the stretch, but fell just one point short. Thanks, Peter!

Thanks for reminding us that, even the only other time our team missed the playoffs, they were at least competitive. Wow, what a difference one year, one off season of GM bungling, and one inept head coach makes, eh?

You know, to be honest, the last couple of “Today” posts have been depressing. The McCarty sucker punch on Lemieux and the ensuing brawl and OT debacle, and now the Forsberg-nail-in-the-coffin from 2006-07. Sigh.
Go Avs! Let's get some goals!

I watched that Nashville game, one of the worst days of my life…

Didn’t Rycroft miss a wide open net from close in early in the game that would have put the Avs up? I seem to remember something like that.

I was at that game and as great as it was to see Forsberg playing again, getting knocked out of the playoffs like that, in favor of the Flames no less, was brutal.
An ounce of confidence can carry you a mile toward winning. Oh, and Red Wings suck.

i was at that game
I dont really remember much of the game after the ovation that followed the video tribute. I remember that we lost, and I was pissed, but really the ovation was pretty magical. i remember standing up with the whole row and yelling at people that sat down while i was still clapping. i got everyone pumped for foppa’s return; its too bad that it ended the way it did.
awaiting the draft...
