Today In Colorado Avalanche History
May 29th, 2002 - [You know, I wasn't going to run this, but since Saint Patrick is on my shitlist right now, what the hell.] Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals. The Avs are at home and up 3-2 in the series. And then...guh. Shanahan scores what would turn out to be the winning goal. In fact, starting with that goal the Wings go on a 9-0 run the rest of the way, knocking the shell-shocked Avalanche out of the playoffs.
The Avalanche franchise really hasn't been the same since, honestly. That was their last trip to the Conference Finals and they are 17-22 in the playoffs and have won 3 of 8 series since that dreadful moment.
And no, I will NOT be doing a TICAH for Game 7.

Game 7 against the Wings that year
The Nug finale the other night sort of reminded me of that. Just a surreal “wtf is this?” feeling you had watching it. And yes, the Avs haven’t been the same since, even when they had loads of talent (Granato part I), while the hated Wheel has continued to dominate (now excuse me while I puke).
