Roy Rumors

According to this link posted on the HF Boards, Sir Patrick is in Denver meeting with Pierre Lacroix.

Patrick Roy fueling rumors because he currently resides in Colorado with Pierre Lacroix, president of the Avalanche.

The visit of the former goalkeeper Denver adds to the rumors circulating since the elimination of the Quebec Remparts that NHL teams could be interested in his services.

Note that the google translation posted above seems to lose a little in translation. It has him "residing" in Colorado. Residing is one of the translations for sejourne (french version here), but I thinkt he better translation is "visiting".

EDIT:

Dater's all over this one:

Avalanche vice president of media relations Jean Martineau confirmed Roy was in Denver for a short visit, and is departing today. He said the team had no comment beyond that. Roy did not return a phone call.

DUN!

Dun, dun, dun…….

MHH: Like the Avs organization, we’ve now officially lost our minds.

Doubts about Roy and general thoughts on Coach Q

I don’t know how well this will pan out for the Avs. Sure, Roy is a huge presence to have in your franchise, but he really hasn’t proven himself as a coach.

BTW, did any of you check Q’s postgame speeches this play-offs? My blood was almost boiling. In my humble opinion, he’s nothing more than a pretentious little fucktart who’s riding teams that were gonna make the play-offs anyway.

Wat did he say that got your panties all twisted?

by Where is Bob Hartley? on May 8, 2009 10:02 AM MDT up reply actions

Nothing in particular. It was just after they lost and the way he talked about his team just brought back too many bad memories.

At this point I’d be as happy with a rotting log as the Avalanche’s coach compared to Granato.

I’d say we’d be no worse with Roy as the coach.

How Insulting!

To rotting logs.

Hell yeah!

Chicago was going to play this well this season with ME coaching them.

I think Roy would be a good hire

yes he’s another in-organization hire, kind of, but he’s also a fresh perspective at he same time too, and Roy ain’t no one’s puppet. He’s had success in the minors, he’s knows the game…

I would be pretty happy with a Roy hire. Especially if he brought in new assistants.

Snap Judgement: Ohhh fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
After some deliberation: Still an upgrade over current coach.

It has been almost a month since PL dismissed FG. I am no expert, but I would think that some decision needs to be made, and soon. Whether its a Billington/Roy tandem, or whatever, someone needs to come in and start looking at the system, analyzing it, and preparing to make decisions.

I would be ok with Roy back as coach, I suppose… but the longer you wait for a new GM, the less time you have to interview new coaches. The way this is panning out, I think we should be resigned to having a good-old-boys hired GM and coach; a new set that won’t shake the system much. I just dont think that our organization will go with anything else, and each day that goes by without new appointments makes me sadder.

Hmm

Maybe Roy will be GM, but Billington will be his backup. It’s worked before!

Hmm

I’m especially cynical and bitter today, so the snark has been ratcheted up today as a defense for bad news. Good news for Snark fans! (unlike my cousin, Shark fans, I bring my game for the playoffs)

You’d be surprised at how much time I’ve spent looking for a picture of the announcer from Smash TV to add after your post here, and I can’t find anything.

And if you don’t know what Smash TV is, you are too young…
