Dater: Lappy To Leave
Sadly, I saw this coming. I hope Dater's wrong.

It’s just not right. Even Mike Haynes’ wife and kids went to games wearing their “It’s All About Lappy” tee shirts. The fans whole-heartedly support and love Lappy. /shakes head
This organization is trying to kill my will to be an Avs fan.
An ounce of confidence can carry you a mile toward winning. Oh, and Red Wings suck.

lame
i recall Dater saying crap like this about Liles too though, so we’ll see. Wonder what Lappy is asking for…

I’ll wait till something is actually official, but in the end I’ll probably be saying just one thing…
CLUSTERFUCK!
MHH: Like the Avs organization, we’ve now officially lost our minds.

Jori’s down on Dater’s site as saying we should have traded him. Anybody think we could maybe still do a sign and trade? At least then we might get something for him, although I’d love to see him stay. Stupid Tucker. I’m going to hate you even more next season.
Get rid of the loser point
08-09 Avs- can we decline the penalty?

Oh fucking hell
(Am I allowed to say fuck around here??)
Doc, you’re right, AD did spout this same crap about Liles and so I hope he’s full of it. If he’s not, my die-hard, even-though-they-suck-I-still-love-them feelings for the Avs are…well…I don’t know what they are. This effing sucks.

Yes, he is a heart and soul guy, and I love Lappy as much as the next person. But at 35 and not really much of an offensive weapon…on a team with little cap room…and for a guy looking for a pay raise…
Is there really a place for a Lappy on a rebuild team?

Yes, there is
This team is going nowhere for the forseeable future. For three years we have had to throw up into our mouths more than a little watching lazy asses like arnason, tucker, clark, etc. skate or stand around aimlessly…on many nights almost taking the joy out of watching my beloved avs play. If they are going to be mediocre I want guys on the ice I can be behind 100% regardless of Mcnabb’s altitude BS, or even their upside skill level etc… finding common ground on his salary is a FAN thing and having one guy who embodies what hockey is about getting overpaid for 2 years isn’t going to kill us.
If they don’t sign him, all of my Arnason hate (and it is beyond calculation) will now be directed at Tucker for essentially taking Lappy’s money.

Just playing devil’s advocate. But I would direct the Tucker hate to Granato (his alleged recruiter" and Gigure (for actually writing up the contract)

Age should not be an issue in this. I can see age being an issue if a guy is starting to slow down, but when did we see any “slow down” to Lappy’s game this season? We didn’t, he still fights, hits, hustles on the ice, goes into traffic and creates havoc. He has value outside of being an offensive weapon that is very much need on this team; but at the same time can also contribute offensively.
Give the guy a 2yr deal for 1.5mil per because he is worth it and he’ll give you everything. Then in two years you can re-evaluate if his age is catching up with him.

I want him to stay
but if he ends up leaving, this is my wish:
1. That he and his family end up in a city where they are happy living.
2. That he gets a Stanley Cup.

3. He doesn’t go to Detroit. Although that may come up under #1.

Good for Lappy
Maybe now he can go somewhere that isn’t a total joke.
I don't believe in Peter Budaj.
