Do We Need A Live Thread For This?
Is anyone planning to watch the NHL awards tomorrow night? It'll be shown on Vs here in the States (right after, I kid you not, some show called "HOLY @#%*!"). I mean, don't get me wrong, it sounds like they've got an all-star cast lined up...
Award-winning multi-platinum recording artist Robin Thicke and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Chaka Khan will perform. The NHL Awards house band will be led by Saturday Night Live bandleader Katreese Barnes. Canadian buzz band Arkells will perform a set at the NHL Awards Party at the Palms Pool and Rain Nightclub following the Awards broadcast.
Notable hockey fans Snoop Dogg, Michael Bublé, William Fichtner (Prison Break, Blades of Glory), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galatica, Burn Notice), Lauren Holly (NCIS, Dumb & Dumber), Colin Ferguson (Eureka) and others are scheduled to appear alongside NHL stars...
I guess Artie Lange must have had other committments.
I'm not sure I'd ever want to watch one of these even if someone from the Avs was up for some hardware. I think I'll be sticking with So You Think You Can Dance (*swoons for Cat Deeley*). But if you folks do want a live thread, let us know. We'll promise not to laugh too hard.

Tricia Helfer
She’s a reason to tune in, but her hotness is countered by all the other ‘celebrities’ listed.
Too bad Arkells aren’t playing during the show.
2008-2009 Avalanche: It's like watching a car crash.
What are the chances of seeing Lauren Holly there? Like one out of a hundred?

I’d say more like one out of a million.

I think I can wait until all these celebs reunite at Jonathon Berskowitz Bar Mitzvah in 10 years.

So You Think You Can Dance Live Thread, FTW!
(Way more fun than awards show! Hahaha.)
DD, if you wanna blog through SYTYCD, I’ll watch it with you and your wife! (Except for tomorrow, I have plans). I have a lot of friends with dance backgrounds and we watch all the dance tv shows and talk about them. There seems to be a lot of not-so-fierce contestants this year and the show feels annoyingly predictable. And what the hell is with halftops and half tutus with boyshorts? Anybody showing up in dance classes in NYC wearing that would get laughed out of the studio.
Yeah, despite annoying and predictable crap, we don’t want to miss it if there is a great dance performance. Great Shane Sparks choreography to open the bottom three elimination show last week by the way. By now, I can tell who the choreographers are before they are announced. (At first I was deciding between Wade Robson and Shane. Wade used to be hip hop, but his style now involves theatrical, odd, jerky movements and often spooky makeup/costume, and anything remotely like the “Thriller” video is usually Wade, and Shane’s style is more hardcore hip hop, “crew,” krump. But halfway through the number, I could tell it was Shane with the continued emphasis on hip hop and more dance crew movements.)
Hahaha. Anyway, I write about dance/movement/choreography occasionally.
it’s a fun show, and the only one of these types of things that I watch. I have absolutely no frame of reference, as the only thing I know about dance is that I can’t do it, but it’s still amazing to watch. I just have to fast forward past Mary and, if he’s on, Lil C. all the other “jooges” are cool though.
I think Brandon is my favorite so far

love the show too
because there is amazing talent. I was a gymnast/cheerleader, so when I watch, I just marvel at the athleticism and difficulty of what they are doing!! Just make sure you have the mute button handy when it’s Mary’s turn to talk.
Can’t stand Dancing with the Stars, though. Like I want to watch Cloris Leachman and Marie Osmond!?!
Colorado Avalanche: Please excuse the mess while we are under construction.
what the hell
i’m gonna post comments during tonight’s show.
i actually don’t mind lil c. i hate nigel. he’s like the gary bettman of the show.
i didn’t watch the auditions and got interrupted last week, so i don’t know which one is brandon. i’ll be watching for him tonight! wait i just saw his intro — he’s fierce!
never watched “dancing with the stars.” no thank you! but i heard evander holyfield was great when he was on it…and it makes sense actually.
randi & evan
i was thinking they were dorks before randi even called themselves “dorky.” those 2 will be gone before long; i give them 2-3 weeks before they are eliminated. very white bread personalities. (ugh, that picture of her with that dog’s tongue on her mouth. eww!)
weak beginning to the show.
I’d really like to see Evan do well, but I agree they won’t make it too far. and as soon as he goes, we can stop with the obligatory cuts to his brother in the audience

melissa & ade
these 2 are more like dancers i know in terms of personality. pretty cool choreography by sonia with high level of difficulty. sparkly black bra top plus ripped hot pink spandex pants for melissa, awesome black leather jeans for ade and nothing else!
caitlin & jason
these 2 are cute and have great personality when they dance. caitlin is hot & spicy! great shane sparks choreography. but 2 of 3 judges are not liking the performance.
janette & brandon
ohmygod, what excellent dancers. that choreography was so hard. terrific energy from those 2. judges going crazy with complements.
see, Brandon is the bomb. although he needs to stop acting like an 8-year old girl when he receives criticism (good or bad).
none of the disco routines I’ve seen on this show have been very good, but this one was great and they were terrific

asuka & vitolio
these 2 kinda sucked last week. they were in the bottom three. they are doing a beautiful waltz this week. one of the lifts was so breathtaking. rave review from mary. nice reviews from both lil c and nigel. nigel says they “showed [their] quality.”
I didn’t like it as much as the jooges, but I like both dancers

next 2 couples were okay; i didn’t love them. jonathan has got to go.
jeanine & phillip were painful to watch. their attempt at tango was just awful. jeanine looks like a very young selma hayak in black fishnets! judges concentrated their criticism on phillip…poor dude.
ashley & kupono were a little disappointing. they are attractive (especially kupono) and have cute personalities. i hope they don’t get eliminated too soon.
cat’s dress isn’t as fabulous tonight as usual. looks like a shiny red baggy bag. unfortunate.
Cat’s outfits are hit or miss. one she had a couple of weeks ago made her look pregnant (not that there’s anything wrong with that). I’d still…well, you know.

Serious question, since when has what they do on those crappy dance shows actually dancing. It seems to me that all they do is throw their arms and legs up in wierd ways. If thats the case then why isn’t my goaltending style an acceptable dance move.
The Savage has spoken. Let it be done

It is, just don’t wear your pad on the dance floor, cuz you’ll look like a dumb ass.

I’m wearing full hockey equipment at my wedding reception…
Maybe that’s why I’m single, hmm…..

Vezina and Jennings...
I’ll be watching for the Vezina winner and to watch the Jennings Trophy be awarded.
It’s pretty funny that The Hockey Guild is up for an “award” as well … the Glenn Anderson Leadership Award for New Media!!! Maybe I’ll finally win something besides a beer-league hockey game.

Oh, sure. Now that the playoffs are over your asking if we want a thread. Hrrumpffffffttt.
An ounce of confidence can carry you a mile toward winning. Oh, and Red Wings suck.
Really though
Maybe DDC should just start some sort of dancing on TV blog or something. SC playoffs? Nooooooo. From now on I’m calling him twinkle toes.

i really can't believe
you guys are discussing dance shows on a hockey blog. I feel like you’re risking Scott Parker showing up at your door and beating you within inches of your lives for angering the hockey gods! :)
No doubt
DDC better start looking out up in the sky for the giant falling beer can.

thanks for indulging us. :-)
i hope none of us get crushed by giant beer cans but i’d love for scott parker to come to my door. i’d ask for a private viewing of his tattoos! lol.
Pookie gets a pass (I think)
But we may have to have a hearing about the possibility of removing DDC’s man card.
The prosecution presents the following evidence:
#1:
Cat’s outfits are hit or miss. one she had a couple of weeks ago made her look pregnant (not that there’s anything wrong with that). I’d still…well, you know.
A guy does not discuss a girls outfits unless it is referring to how it makes her ass/boobs look or discussing how to get her out of it.
#2
see, Brandon is the bomb. although he needs to stop acting like an 8-year old girl when he receives criticism (good or bad).
A man never uses such outdated phrase as “the bomb” and definitely shouldn’t use them in referring to another man.
MHH: Like the Avs organization, we’ve now officially lost our minds.
