McLeod suits up with the Avs another 3yrs
Avalanche ink McLeod to three-year deal
The Colorado Avalanche and forward Cody McLeod have agreed to a three-year deal worth $3.1 million.
The contract will see the 6'2, 210-pound native of Binscarth, Manitoba make $900,000, $1 million, and $1.2 million per year, respectively.
A little bit of a pay raise over the $522.500 he made last season. I have a feeling the organization is expecting McLeod to "replace" Lappy.
Also, a former Avs player is involved in one of the first trades of this offseason as Reinprecht was traded to Florida.
Coyotes deal Reinprecht to Panthers for Meyer
Reinprecht was set to be an unrestricted free agent, but has singed with Florida
Reinprecht's three-year deal has a cap hit of $2.050 million. He will get $1.8 million in the first year and $2.175 million in each of the following two years.

a little more than i’d have liked, but less than he’d have gotten in arbitration. i didn’t want arbitration either, that’s always a fast route to bad feelings.
It definitely could have been worse…
When I first read it I thought they were going to pay him 3.1mil per season instead of 3.1mil over the three years.
MHH: Like the Avs organization, we’ve now officially lost our minds.

That was my first thought too. That really would have been a slap in the face of Lappy. If McLeod can continue to pot 10 goals, keep going hard to the net, and creating chances, he’s worth it. That being said, he’s no Lappy.
An ounce of confidence can carry you a mile toward winning. Oh, and Red Wings suck.
McLeod and Lappy bring different things to the table. But, $1.03 million cap number for McLeod sounds about right.

Do you think...
The Shermanator saw the poll where McLeod was favored over McCormick by about 98% and thought to himself “i’ve gotta keep this kid!”
Wouldn't that be great...
if the collective will of MHH were to direct the actions of the franchise. If it did come true, we’d be hoisting the Cup on a very regular basis!
And hoisting PL on his own petard, but that’s another matter…
Okay, so this is freaking funny
I posted a link to this on a Post article about Deadmarsh and Kono in response to a guy questioning that the Highlander had been re-signed. “Kurt” replied
"Hey Beach, thanks for the link, but I’d really like to see this on another web site. Nothing against milehighhockey, but not only has it not shown up in the Post, but it’s not listed in thehockeynews.com’s transactions or even on the Avs’ site "
Then as soon as it was on Dater’s blog, he was satisfied it was true. Can you imagine that?? Trusting All Things Avs as gospel?? What a fool.

maybe not a done deal yet

according to Dater’s update in his blog and article in the Post, it looks like it is done after all.
blog:
*Update – And what we see is…the deal is, in fact, done. No. 55 receives a three-year, $3.1 million deal. Some wires were crossed, indeed.
I’m supposed to be off today, but gladly made a few calls to bring this important information to Avalanche Universe!
Post:
Cody McLeod was one of the few nice surprises for the Avalanche last season, and the rugged left winger was rewarded with a new three-year contract Saturday
I’m happy about this. Yeah, I realize it probably means Lappy’s got a snowball’s chance in hell of being offered what he wants deserves. I like the Highlander, tho, and am glad he’ll be in the Unipron a few more years.

The biggest difference between Lappy and McLeod is that Mcleod is like Tucker, where Lappy actually has heart.
i don't know about that
mcleod seemed to have a fire in him, ready to jump to the defense of his teammates and take on someone bigger than him just to change momentum of the game. sure, he made some stupid mistakes, but he’s young. he’ll learn.. how many times did you see tucker do that?? or even get into a fight for that matter? plus, mcleod scores once in a while. too lazy to pull it up, but i suspect tucker’s points last season don’t match up. i think you’re way underestimating mcleod’s value if you’re saying he’s just like tucker.

Tucker 16pts +\- -13
McC 20 pts -11
Lappy 19 pts 0
I’m not saying Tucker is better than McLeod, but I am saying they’re both dirty and cheap players.
I’d trade Lappy for Tucker and McC any day.
totally agree but...
Lappy and Tucker have been around the block before. McLeod isn’t exactly young but he isn’t some vet. I think this will be a good time for McLoud to show whether or not he can be a leader in the trenches, not the scorecard. And personally i think he’s got what a takes.
+/- is a bogus stat, so I’m going to ignore that. you put McC…I’m going to assume you meant McL(eod).
Tho close, McLeod did have more points. And is paid far less and just beginning his career in the NHL while tucker is over-paid and supposedly a veteran. Plus, you don’t mention stats on hits nor fights (again too lazy to look it up). I don’t think McLeod is dirty as much as he is over-zealous. Something that, with time and age, might even out.
As far as trading them for Lappy, well no shit…that goes without saying. No brainer. My point is, simply, I’d rather have McLeod than Tucker.

One can’t win an argument with fallacies like that.
I’ve been around during the whole +/- discussion, but it’s not a totally bogus stat, it’s just very crude.
I think we just disagree wether McL is dirty or over-zealous. Cus I feel he’s pretty cheap.
And regarding your last sentence, that was my original point. I never said anything to compare McL with Tucker. Just comparing the both of them with Lappy
see below
i jibbled.

Everybody needs to chill. You’re arguing the worth of a borderline NHL vs. McLeod for god’s sake. Let’s keep it civil.
2008-2009 Colorado Avalanche: Dry Humping Mediocrity
This is possibly one of the stupider arguments MHH has had since The Savage and Bubblegum argued over who was tougher, John McLane or Rambo. It’s McLane, he had no shoes.
The Savage has spoken. Let it be done
"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference"
R. Frost
LOL
I so remember that argument. And yeah, McLane had no shoes, lot’s of glass…. Difficult decision but Rocky always got his ass kicked before he won whereas McLane just kicked ass.
An ounce of confidence can carry you a mile toward winning. Oh, and Red Wings suck.

Although we clearly must agree to disagree, just an FYI...
At 4:46 pm:
I never said anything to compare McL with Tucker.
Earlier at 3:55 am:
Mcleod is like Tucker
Then at 11:07 am:
Tucker 16pts +\- -13
McC 20 pts -11
Lappy 19 pts 0
I’m not saying Tucker is better than McLeod, but I am saying they’re both dirty and cheap players.
And since you were being snarky with the whole fallacies statement, I did a little digging. McLeod and Tucker are dead ringers for one another, fo sho.
Hits (according to nhl.com): McLeod 194 (79 GP, 196 when adjusted to 82 GP) Tucker 102 (63 GP, 123 when adjusted to 82 GP)
Fights (according to hockeyfights.com): McLeod 10 (4 wins, 0 losses, 6 draws) Tucker 3 (0 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw)
And just for shits and giggles…
Goal Percentage (according to nhl.com): McLeod 12.7%, Tucker 8.5%
Game Winning Goals (according to nhl.com): McLeod 3, Tucker 1
Average TOI (according to nhl.com): McLeod 11:34, Tucker 14:06 (meaning the Highlander got it all done spending less time on the ice)
So, the point of all this is to simply say you can have your opinion on whether Cody McLeod is a dirty player, as dirty as you say Tucker is; however, you cannot say they are equal when it comes to play making. McLeod beats out Tucker in every category, including the dubious +/- and, especially, the hit against our sad, sad cap.
I’m done. Rip away…
