There are rumors going around (per TSN, anyway) that the Avs are currently shopping Smyth, Hannan, and Liles in an effort to "cut salary".

This worries me a bit.  Don't get me wrong, I don't really want to see any of those guys leave, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if it landed us some good young players.  What I'm worried about however, is the phrase "cut salary".  I am hoping the Avs don't become one of the teams that barely spends above the cap floor. 

If you are going to trade one of those guys, and it's not about salary, why not Smyth for JS Giguere?  Similar salaries, and both players fill voids on the other team.

If the Avs do turn into a "cap floor" team, expect them to be relocated within 10 years.
