The Avalanche has hired Joe Sacco to be its next coach and will announce the move at a news conference scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Pepsi Center.
Sacco has coached the past two seasons with the Avanlache's AHL franchise, the Lake Erie Monsters.
Previously, Sacco was an assistant coach for the Lowell Lock Monsters.

My guess is no. Not the way they do things at Av central. Qualified candidates from outside the org need not apply. Unqualified applicants from within the org? Pull up a chair!

Sacco
Sacco looks like another disaster for the Avs. They really should have
gone for a more proven coach.
The Avs roster is so lacking at this point that changing coaches will
not make any difference. The Avs need a goalie like JS Giguere or some
free agent acquistions
