3rd Jersey Redux

Yeah... I have had some free time this morning while backing up about 400 gigs of yesterdays recording sessions. So I decided to make a couple more "fantasy" 3rd jerseys.

The colors may be off a little bit because I use a far superior Mac computer... unlike most of you Windows nerds.

I really miss the original Jersey. The new home jersey really blows chunks and the actual 3rd jersey was cool, but not cool enough.

Carry on... Sincerely, Tim Gunn

I dig the pseudo-Quebec coloration and the use of the original jagged shoulder/arm lining. Very cool.

Which means there’s no way the Avs would ever adopt it. Sad but true.

Go Avs! Let's get some goals!

wow, not sure I like the foot logo, but the coloration and theme is awesome

I really like it too. Powder blue FTW!

jibble is going to smite you. it’s frostbite blue.

I LIKE pissing in the wind

and telling people frostbite is BLACK (or white). But hey, whatever.

by TheRed on Jul 14, 2009 1:27 AM MDT up reply actions

No

The Nords colors (which is what I’m assuming he’s using) is lighter, and can accurately be described as “powder”.

The Avs current shade is between Royal and Powder, and is “Frostbite”

Like the colors and styles

don’t really like the foot. Go with something closer to the current Av logo (maybe simpler) and I’m sold.

yeah, i am talkign abotu the top one too. the top one is seriously bad ass, and the traditional avs logo would be perfect.

Thanks!

I had made this one too, but thought it might be too random.

hm

that kind of thing tends to age poorly…

or at least I think that the detroit winter classic ones like this don’t look fresh anymore

I just want Drury back... I recognize the Drury->Morris->Statsny chain, and I stick with the statement.

by wflan on Jul 13, 2009 2:12 PM MDT up reply actions

What about some sort of fleur-de-lis / A-logo combination as a nod to the Nords? That’s probably hard to prototype on here, i bet, nor are we graphic designers…afaik.

barring that, I like the one you have with just the standard logo. kick ass jersey.

by thedoctor on Jul 13, 2009 2:15 PM MDT up reply actions

Why not have the A on the chest and the fluer-de-lis on the shoulders, Done right i think it could be pretty sweet, plus it has the nod to the past everyone wants while still staying in the present.

dear mods

can we turn on editing? I’d really like to chop off the superfluous bottom back jersey on the second image, but can’t…

by hockeymom on Jul 13, 2009 2:18 PM MDT up reply actions

They do look cool,

but would be a bit out of place in Colorado other than for a nod to the team’s French Canadian roots. It seems like the team has kind of shied away from its past life as the Nordiques and chose to ‘start fresh’ with the move to Denver. I don’t necessarily agree with it but hey, what can you do? I think they should have kept Tremblay, Tardif, Stastny and Goulet’s numbers retired.

The foot with the frog gizmos on the bottom are more betterer even than your original!

With the current logo, not so much.

by Hopfenkopf on Jul 13, 2009 2:33 PM MDT up reply actions

I love them all. But, I really only think that the bottom design is do-able with the Reebok Edge jerseys. The reason that they had to switch from the traditional Avs design to the unipron was that they couldn’t get the zig-zags to look right. That’s why all teams now have either horizontal stripes or some form of the unipron now.

by Hopfenkopf on Jul 13, 2009 5:05 PM MDT up reply actions

Didn’t most teams end up going back to the original fabric because the super awesome stuff sucked and kept ripping. RBK could do it if they wanted to, they just like having the templates set up to be the same cause they’re lazy

Lace-up

As long as it has lace ups, I’m cool with it. I really dig the lace up look. And no, I’m not a big fan of male chest hair. I do like the foote logo as a front emblem, but think (at least for me) it is too one dimensional. I have always liked the avs logo, but still think the thirds were the best by far. And there was no avs emblem there. Go figure. Colors? Meh, I like the way yours look, and I like the tribute thing, so I don’t care too much, but I have gotten used to the Burgundy and “Joe Sakic” Blue,

PS. I have decide that “Joe Sakic Blue” fits way better, and will hereby be using it any time I refer to the “Blue” color, instead of “Frostbite”. Maybe even “Joe Blue”, with a hat tip to Major League. Sorry Jibbles, I’m going against the flow on this one.

Was the number on one sleeve and logo on the other done to show what would be on the sleeves or didi you plan on only having one number and one logo on the sleeves, asue personally I hate that shit. It’s my bigest problem with the tlant baby blue jersey.

I saw that too and was wondering if it was on purpose or not.

I think if you took that bottom one, add a Burgundy stripe around the bottom of the blue area on the torso and the sleeves it would be totally boss.

by Mike @ MHH on Jul 14, 2009 8:05 AM MDT up reply actions

I’d like to see either the old 3rd jerseys come back or our 3rd jersey be our old “home jersey” (maroon ones)

But as a new approach, the last design in the reply post looks sweet for honoring The Nords, if we don’t end up going that route I’d like that powder blue to be replaced with the navy blue we currently wear.

I believe they do, as they are the same franchise. Unless the city of Denver or the state of Colorado kept the rights, like Seattle did with the Sonics.
