Darren Haydar On The Radar?
yeah, couldn't resist the stupid title.
"According to the Malmo, Sweden-based "Hockey in Swenglish" blog, former Grand Rapids Griffins captain Darren Haydar has spurned offers from the Swedish Eliteserien's MoDo Ornskoldsvik to sign with the Colorado Avalanche. "
Haydar has an impressive 536 points in 496 AHL games, but the diminutive winger (5'9" 170lbs) has only been given a limited opportunity (22 games) in the NHL

If Dario is this down
The Avs have fucked up at a new level. I’m serious here. I find you to be one of the most level headed, realistic, intelligent posters here (unlike me in so many ways). The Smyth deal is a fleecing of epic proportions. Unreal. And it sends a horrible message to the fans and players. Work your ass off every night? Buh-bye.

Alternatively
Maybe it sends the right message to the players – work your ass off every night and you don’t have to play with the Avs any more!

They get that pile of poo for Smyth
I wonder if they could get a slightly less steaming pile for Stastny? Maybe even a 4th rounder!

And it sends an admirable message to the fans and players. Work your ass off every night? We’ll send you to a franchise that’s at least trying!

Interesting info on Wikipedia:
On December 23, 2006, Haydar picked up a point in his 32nd consecutive game, breaking the record for the longest AHL scoring streak.1 The stick used by Haydar as well as the hockey puck involved in the record-breaking point are to be preserved in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Haydar went on to notch a point in 39 consecutive games, tallying 79 points during the streak.
Haydar won the Les Cunningham Award for being the AHL’s most valuable player in 2006–2007 with the Chicago Wolves.

Hopefully this can translate to the NHL.
We should have a lot of guys fighting for a forward position this year. Could be interesting:
Duchene
Galliardi
Stoa
Haydar
Burki
Mercier
Yip
McNicholl
Dupuis
Fritche
Tessier?
Parshin?
I would think that 1 or 2 would really shine out of that group.
Duchene and Galliardi would be locks, I’d assume. Galliardi looked pretty good at the end of last season.
But yeah, lots of competition at forward.
Go Avs! Let's get some goals!
agree
Before the Smyth trade I thought they would be competing for a spot, now I think they will be given a chance.

If it’s the same, the Loch Monsters will be looking pretty good next year. Much better than having Per Ledin on the team.
The Loch Monsters played in Lowell…this is just the Lake Erie Monsters Now.
Darren yaydar is a player…although again, the bulk of his play has been in the AHL. But he has been an AHL stud. I got to watch him n Chicago for 2 years with the Wolves…he was great on a line it Jason Krog and Brett Sterling.
The big knock on him is that he is small…but hey, Why not?
lol, sorry
i was just skimming DD’s post, saw all that Swedish and assumed he was European. oops
hopefully not as “epic” as jibbled reply fails or the kopf’d block quote-fails… :-)
