Already have my room booked and first level, center ice tix in hand!! Now I’m just waiting on the details for the two-day, on-ice clinic the Kings are offering again this year. Got to hang out during the Avs morning skate and get some pics with them last year after one of the days. CAN’T WAIT!!!!

Sadly, I think chances are 50-50, especially based on the Smyth deal. He is the one D-man salary that would probably be easiest to move.

Not so sad
Johnny’s underperformed the past couple of seasons. He had spurts at the tail-end of both seasons, especially after the trade deadline passed in 2008. But, in general, he hasn’t been worth the $4.2 mi/season. Redundant when talking about our defense, I know, but still…
I know Bob was making a funny about bamboozling Detroit to take Tucker off our hands, but a) they’re an excellent organization and wouldn’t make such a stupid move, and b) they’ve got cap problems, too, except their dilemma is how to put a few tweaks on a talented roster, while ours is how to dump contracts no other teams would want.

The Dark Side
Looks good on you, Red Wing Dan. You see, my Av fan friends, Dan actually cheered for the Wings in the cup final this year. Because they are such a great organization. By extension, if Hitler ran a well oiled machine in Nazi Germany, would Dan have …. ? (I think not)
Actually, it infuriates me to no end that the Wings have thrived so far in the cap era whereas the Avs have fallen badly. But that doesn’t mean that I EVER, EVER, EVER root for the hideous winged wheel.

Has Dan ever used the sentence, “but Hitler made the trains run on time”? Because if he has, that would explain his respect for the Wings.
Go Avs! Let's get some goals!
Hitler did too. There’s just something about fascism that improves mass transportation reliability.
Go Avs! Let's get some goals!
Thart's a myth
If it were true, Hitler would have made it to Moscow before winter.
by Jibblescribbits on Jul 9, 2009 8:29 AM MDT up reply actions
Nope.
The fact that the Soviets had a different gauge railroad (and still do) than the rest of Europe may well have saved the world. Hitler’s trains couldn’t get past the Soviet border.

We needs to get us on the same page! We did this on a thread the other day too.
No ill will here. I certainly won’t martyr myself at the hands of the evil Jibbles as did our buddy TD over at Mirtle’s.
:)
Well, as always, I was just jokin with the jerk comment.

Germany's trains ran on time before the NSDAP.
It’s kind of a German thing. The Italians on the other hand…
setting aside my personal feelings for thinking JML rocks, I have to disagree with people who say he underperformed last year (the first year of his 4.2 mil salary, btw).
I mean, he had 39 pts (that would be 4th overall for ALL Avs players last year), averaged 21 min/game TOI, had a GW goal, OT goal, and improved greatly in his own end. He started taking shots from the point (one of his quotes indicated that the D-men finally got the green light to shoot first, ask questions second, about 1/2 way or more through the season; that’s when his blue line shots began to increase in frequency) setting up some opportunities for rebounds. When looking at the defensemen on the team last year, he stands out.
i really don’t think you can say he underperformed in ’08-09 when you look at his play in conjunction with the rest of the team.

He is dreamy. I think Dan is being a little hard on him. But then again, who wouldn’t want to be? (OK, we should probably stop this)

ROs are not always enforced across state lines. in CA and LV, this kind of behavior is simply called adoration and might even entitle me to palimony support. so = p

I’ve had my tickets for over a month now….
Though with Joe going, Smyth gone, Lappy gone, etc… I’m starting to wonder if I should have spent a little less money and dropped a ticket level. Oh well, I should still be fun to get to see Duchene play in person (considering he’s still on the roster at that point).
Beachie: where are you sitting? I’ll be in section U12 ( just off center ice).

my appreciation for the Kings (and planned attendance to their games) skyrocketed astronomically with that signing. it’s funny, but all last year i kept telling my king-fan friends that the player they really needed was smytty. i think i may be to blame here, folks. sorry.

Move to Detroit
and start telling your RW fan friends that the one player they need is Tucker. Please.

unfortunately, i have plenty RW fan friends here. but i will so hop on that bandwagon: “no seriously, guys. tucker would be so perfect! he’s just had a bad couple of seasons. needs to be paired with some talent. you know?” /snicker snicker
“chelios is leaving a big gaping hole. i know what the red wings really need now…a shot blocker! clark would be PERFECT in that role. and a big plus is how cool he looks with his mouth guard hanging out.” it could work. i’m on it.

FF
Hey guys,
For anyone who has never been to Frozen Fury but is even remotely considering going, PLEASE go. My parents and I have been to every single one, starting in 1991 with Kings vs Rangers at Caesar’s Palace. It is easily our favorite weekend of the year. What can top playing craps with 11 members of the Avs?! If you guys have any doubts or questions about it, I’m more than willing to help out.
Ben Guite, MVP.
that’s totally up to you. tickets to the game start at about $30. hotels are the typical vegas range. and then there’s the money you pay to the casinos…you know, in return for renting out some cards, slots or dice for a while.

Aargh!
I really thought this year was the one that we might get to go to. A frind rom work just chose that day for their wedding. Even if I don’t go to the wedding, I’ll never get that weekend off to go to Vegas.
It really is ALL ABOUT LAPPY!
Gah!
I had a friend whose fiancee planned their wedding in early-June, 2001, which ended up being on the night of Game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals. I remember watching Game 4 on a little black and white tv during the wedding reception at the church (um, they are no longer married, not that this had anything to do with it).
Colorado Avalanche: Please excuse the mess while we are under construction.
oh yeah it does. bad juju. karma is a bitch.
