What player (non rookie) is going to have a breakout/rebound year?
What Rookie are you most excited to see? For more interesting answers, Duchene should probably be disallowed for this.
What would you rather see this season: A battle for a #8 seed with a likely 1st round exit, or a year that nets a better draft pick?
Are there a set of players on the team that, if they hit their realistic potentials, could lead this team to a legitimate cup run?

Other than Matt Duchene, what rookie are you most excited to see?

Question
If Duchene makes the team, what happens to Wolski? Does he play wing? Is he traded? Does he play 3rd line center?
Question
Who has the best skills to play point on our power play?
Can no one be an answer?

Question
Is this a make or break year for Hensick since we are strong at center?
Question
What is the future potential of Stewart and Jones? How long can we wait for them to develop?
send him to LA or Anaheim. I’ll be sure to give him a very warm and enthusiastic welcome! ; – )

What will it take for the Avalanche to be legitimate cup contenders? And how long will it take for that?

When will the Avs get ice girls, and will Beachie be one of them?

Yes, because as much as she hates Ice Girls, this gets her one step closer to JM Liles.

questions
What will be the biggest change Sacco will bring to the team? Follow up/variance: Will he be successful? Why/why not?
Who will be hired as the goaltender coach? (or did I miss that bulletin that one was already hired?)
Who will be the next player to be shipped out? Where would you like to see him go? What kind of deal should the team get in return?
Who will be the biggest surprise of the season?
Who will be injured this year?

Who should we trade at the deadline?
How many man-games will be lost compared to actual games lost by the Avs?
How many goals can we expect for David Koci? (‘cause fringe/unimportant players matter too)
What are you going to do to ensure that we increase our online presence such that a complete objective, master of deduction Wild blogger won’t rate our fans last again?
(Obviously, all the who will surprise, how will the coach go and other similar questions are shoo-in’s)
When Darcy Tucker writes a check at the grocery store does he in fact, fall down?

altho it may make me unpopular:
Will Darcy Tucker have the good year Guigere envisioned for him?
If he plays decently we may need to find a new whipping boy.
Sippin' PBR on a Colorado game day...
Darcy Tucker cannot have a worse year (crosses fingers) as well as Brett Clark (crosses fingers and makes the sign of the scout). I’m really hoping to see surprises from them this year.

08-09 Avs- can we decline the penalty?
Perfect business sense. Play ridiculously bad for the first year/years and then you’r contract year can’t possibly be worse ensuring it leaves people with the impression they’re still good/about to regain form and nets them a nice pay raise,.

Who is trade meat this season?
Or who will or will not be with the team come the trade deadline?
Who is the team to beat in the NW division? In the Western Conference?

Overpaid (and not very good) Defense
What are the Avs going to do about defense this season? Their top 6 highest paid defensemen total ~$21 million in salary. I would assume only 1 or 2 of those 6 (Liles and maybe Foote) are not currently available on the market, yet the ones that I assume to be available seem to be significantly overpaid for their production and are likely unwanted at their salaries. Considering those top 6 don’t include Kyle Quincey, whom seems to stand a pretty good chance of locking a spot, and Kyle Cumiskey, whom I would assume would get a full-time chance on D since this is a “rebuild”….what are the Avs going to do? Are they going to make a $2.75 million + guy a healthy scratch on a regular basis (I doubt it)? Do they still have the option to buy any of these guys out and/or would they even do that? Could they trade 1, 2, or 3 of them for picks or prospects? I think they are screwed and I hope I’m wrong. I want to see Cumiskey get a full-time chance this year seeing as we’re rebuilding.

My question
Is not so specific, it just wants to know…. What the hell are the Avs going to do with like 25 d-men on the roster? obviously some won’t make the team, but my question for the guys in underwear is…… who do you see making the club, how many d-men are we going to have, and are injuries going to play a factor in that line up. Are people going to be traded? Who? Let’s have some speculation so we can all point fingers at the end of the year. It’s like Fantasy Hockey only different. More ?’s to come when I can think about this a little more….

Leadership?
Which players provide experienced leadership on this team? Adam Foote is a given but what happens if he goes down? I don’t know but Statsny and Hejduk don’t strike me as leaders of an NHL team at this time. Maybe Statsny in the future but not currently. Hejduk is certainly worthy but seems like such a quiet person. I would guess that when the season starts the “A’s” and “C” will be given out to Foote, Hejduk, and Statsny. Are there any other players on this team that would be considered leaders? Liles? Salei? Hannan? Tucker (gag, gag, vomit)?
I could see the possibility of Liles getting an “A”; outside of that I think it’s probably Foote, Duke and SoS.

all biases aside
i was thinking liles as well. i get the feeling that he might be one of the new “faces of the Avs” that stays around for a long time, if not his career. if he keeps improving and such, it just might be what’s in store.

Great pick.

If the Avs are in full rebuild mode, would they still turn down Forsberg if he decided to come back? I think they owe the fans at least that much.
Why did we trade Smyth only to pick up Preissing’s salary? Perhaps it’s more about erasing what Giguere did with this team?
What art school do you have to flunk out of to become the uniform designer for the Avs?
Joe Sakic.

That could be a good thing
If Balsille wins the club, and Phoenix loses out, I see about a 0% chance that Betteman doesn’t rig the draft so that Hamilton won’t have the first pick.

What position(s) do you think the Avalanche need to address in the 2010 Draft? Also, with the high possibility that the Avs will be in contention for the # 1 pick in the ’10 Draft, which prospect would you take at this early stage if you were the Avs?
