Tanguay Reportedly Signs With Lightning
Tanguay to join the Lightning and play with Vinny Lecavalier. Both Quebec natives came from the same 1998 draft (in fact, the Avs loaded up on picks that year in a failed effort to obtain Vinny) and currently have the two highest career point totals from that draft (669 for Vinny, 580 for Tanguay)

Sounds like I’ll be seeing a lot of one of my favorite former Avs on the local broadcast…

Still can’t believe it took so long.

anyone else surprised that Tanguay and Lecavalier are that close in career points?

Actually, I thought that it’d be closer than 89 points. But Lecavalier has played in more games (787) than has Tanguay (659). Tanguay’s average points per game (.88) throughout his career is actually slightly higher than Lecavalier’s (.85).

FWIW, in 4 seasons post lockout, Lecavalier’s PPG is 1.04 while Tanguay’s is .92

That was my first thought.
Lecavalier is this huge contract stud and Tanguay was basically an afterthought this off-season and here they are that close in points. I’m pretty surprised.
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.

Anymore signings?
I’m aware of how often it has been said that the Avs are done this offseason but if there are like 2 weeks b4 the 1st preseason game and Afinogenov is still unsigned whats so wrong for picking him up for around a million he will @least get some more seats filled, jerseys sold, and maybe +3 more games won…which would prob make our total 18 on the seasoning still guarenteeing us a top 3 pick again lol

Sherman said they were done in a recent Post article. I think the idea is to go wih the young kids and not sacrifice a spot for an older NHL vet. This is going to be a rough season.

2.5 Million/1 Year
Now I’m kinda pissed that the Avs wouldn’t pony up a measly 2.5 Mil to bring him back…
Joe Sakic.
not part of the rebuilding plan.
i love the guy, but if we are serious about this we cant be adding additional weight that takes away from the future team.
Sippin' PBR on a Colorado game day...
Rebuilding or not, you still have to get fans to come to the rink. This team is going to have a hard time selling tickets in Bronco Country.
